Parsons is a difficult player to find comparables for. Does he do anything great? eFG% maybe. But he does many things very well. He appears to be in the top half of NBA small forwards in almost every category. And how can one value his locker room contributions? I doubt that even Morey has a spread sheet on that metric. But from my vantage point Parsons makes a tremendous contribution to team cohesiveness.
I've said Pippen since the first month of last season. Agreed he's nowhere near there on defense...but I think especially in context of how he can function, he can definitely be the Pippen to Harden's Jordan.
So we have a Pippen without defense, and a Jordan without defense? Great. All we need now is a Pippen without offense and a Jordan without offense.
My brother and i both send a less athletic Pippen Horry mix, pre Horry bulking up to be a 4, you know the one that was fun to watch with the Rockets.

And Toni Kukoc. Both these guys can get you about 15-18 points, 5+ rebounds and 3+ assists per game, and knock down 3s. Most interesting is that both these guys also have high 2 pt shooting % suggesting an ability to both shoot from range and finish at the basket. Edit: Another one of these guys is Chuck Person.
how about Richard Jefferson? Did we just finally getthe guy that everyone wished we kept the first time around?
When he was drafted I called him the White Robert Horry...he's better offensively, but Horry was a beast on D.
For the last 2 years I have said a cross between Detlef Schrempf and Tom Chambers. He is skilled like Schrempf but not as good a rebounder or defender and he is like Tom Chambers but not as explosive an athlete. He has become a very good player.
Horry was one of my favorite Rockets, but I think Parsons is a much better ball handler and finisher around the basket.
I honestly think Scottie Pippen is the best comparison. Obviously he's nowhere near the scorer Scottie was, but he is just as versatile. Guys like Mike Miller are natural shooters and shoot first players, and I don't consider Parsons a natural shooter or a shoot first player. He does everything, basically a better version of Battier.
Yeah, and both Jordan and Pippen were much better than Harden and Parsons offensively. There's a reason they won 6 championships.

Parsons is like a clean cut Matt Barnes. He can hit the 3 and runs the break well. Barnes is a better defender and Parsons is a better scorer, but those two are very comparable. And they both make for good deals on their respective contracts as well. Parsons is younger and will likely get some team overpaying for his services next season, but for this season, I think he makes for a good glue guy like Barnes.
