That's too ****ing much to give. Let them have nothing. I also blame Rondo for being so loyal and causing a mess to get him cheaper. He's been very professional and doesn't mind going to waste.
I doubt how committed the Celtics ever were to trading Rondo. Seems like their approach is that they can wait until at least the summer to make a decision so they'd only deal Rondo if a "no brainer" offer is made. This is how I would play it. I think the Celtics are keeping their options open as to whether to try to reload with Rondo like they did with Pierce or to trade Rondo and rebuild a new core. Anyway, Morey is not making a "no brainer" offer for Rondo and neither did any other team. It makes sense for the Rockets to wait, also. They will have trade options after the season and potential cap room in 2015-- which cap room can be used to threaten a team into trading a disgruntled 2015 free agent star to Houston at a reasonable price before losing the guy outright. There is some value to having (a still recovering) Rondo for the 2014 playoffs, but seems Morey doesn't value this enough to give up all the extra assets Ainge demands.
Rare smart moves? What about Harden, Lowry, Brooks, Landry, Scola, Bev, Parsons and the various trades he's done? Dude basically assembled a near championship roster from scratch and without tanking, you think somebody who does rare smart moves can do that? SMH do you realize Asik and Lin were signed for free? Even if you let them walk you still got two good players for 3 years.
Rondo was beastly tonight with 6 points on 12 FG's and 2 FT's. It's too bad we couldn't destroy our team for him.
To be honest with yall, No matter what players i mix and match to put on this team, i always come back to one conclusion... Our coach... Sigh
Idk if I'd destroy our team for him, but it's quite silly to judge someone off one game and not look at averages. As well as the fact that he's less than 15 games removed from missing basketball for a whole year.
As usual, people overvalue a Rockets' player. When you get a chance to add the best pure pg in the game, you do it. There are other guys out there that are just as good if not better than Parsons that you can add...Afflalo and Ariza are two that come to mind off the top of my head...the Rockets could have even included Lin and Asik in the deal and asked for Green in return to be part of the package along with Rondo. You could also make a run at Lance Stephenson in free agency. The team as it's presently constructed, especially with McFail as coach, isn't a title contender. They might not even make it out of the 1st round depending on the matchup. This was another missed opportunity by Maury.
You have to wonder how this post could be by far the most accurate opinion expressed among 5,000+ other posts. I am working on a post that describes how I evaluate potential trade targets and free agent signings. I can assure you nothing in it is rocket science (pun intended).
Yes. The only purpose this thread serves now would be if we acquired the guy during the off-season, and people wanted to "look back" at what they posted here. Otherwise, why clutter up the GARM?
Of course any front office would be interested in Rondo, Morey and his team saying they have eyes on Rondo and actively pursuing him are two different things
My guess is he works for Relativity Sports and they're trying to pump up demand for Chandler going into RFA or FA. Was it really a coincidence that he met with his agent in LA before the rumor started? They're trying to set his value around that of Rondo. So probably $12mil. As the smart people have said, there was zero chance that Les or Morey would shake the team up at this point in the season when they had the second best record in team history. It would've been more reasonable if the team was @ .500 and struggling, but Rondo coming of a serious injury? What joke.
Do you honestly think all discussed deals go through? This is NOT NBA2K where trades magically happen with a button. Trades are discussed ALL the time and precious few actually happen. Cyberx is a legit insider who shares with us what he hears being discussed (he is verified by Clutch) who can only pass on what he hears. He is NOT a prophet who sees into the future. Jtr on the other hand had never been known as an insider and is simply another ungrateful member mouthing off. Again, are insiders always right? No, but only idiots would expect otherwise.
Uhmmmm. Then how could I have had the most prophetic post among the 5000+ presented here? I do not have the safe room of "many trades are discussed ... And I never wavered in my opinion. And who, in the bitter end was right. Isn't that what is is all about?
