No, it doesn't matter what I think, but if scouts at the combine think the same, then players could be shooting themselves in the foot by not throwing....of course unless they have something to hide to where showing their inadequacies in a neutral environment would be even more detrimental to their draft stock than simply showing that they don't have the confidence in their arm to throw at the combine.
LOL. you really have become blind my friend.. Stop trolling already seriously.. Drank a 8 gallon of water to make it seem like hes heavier ... really man.. did you not see the video posted on his instragam acoupl eof days ago, did he also drink an 8 gallon bucket of water there. its clear he bulked up and your to blind to see it
To be clear, Polian's comments were if he can keep on the bulk throughout the season, not if he loaded up on water before the weigh-in.
Lots of people have good tape, scouts want to see performance in person, if tape was enough why ask anyone to throw at the combine or pro day?
Ha Ha! Busted! Seriously hand size is overrated. Grip strength is more important and TB has a strong grip. 1 fumble lost in 3 years, I would say TB's hands are good enough. The most accurate QB by far with the blitz his hands are good enough. It's not the hand size as much as it is the grip strength.
If you don't have the size, you can't get the grip. That said, he's over 9 inches which is the minimum threshold.
Teams care more about film and whiteboard meetings than throwing drills. Still you have to throw some to prove you are not hiding anything. If Bortles or Manziel throw he'll throw. Otherwise he'll throw at pro day. As long as he throws at some point they'll be fine. The point is to prove he is not hiding anything.
You're right, and if I'm Teddy's agent and my job is to look out for my client's best interest, I'm choosing the "or pro day" part of your question. With my guys. I never said don't throw at all. After we interview/chalkboard, measure, run , & throw at pro day there's nothing but the tape left.
I said it before and I will say again... Bridgewater reminds me of Joe Montana 1. Build 2. Accuracy (Great timing and anticipation thrower) 3. Touch 4. Clutchness
Wow. I'm shocked to still see a Carr apologist. Didn't think they still existed. Carr, regardless of having a bad O-line, was prone to holding onto the ball too long because he wasn't able to read and anticipate defense. He also wasnt patient in the pocket. They can call it shell shock all they want but fact is Carr just made slow, and poor decisions. Do you really think the offensive line improved so much in the span of just one year they went from giving up 41 sacks to Carr in 2006 to just 16 on Schaub in 2007? Do you think it was also all the lines fault for Carr to be sacked 13 times in just 4 games in Carolina? Can't believe I would still see a post blaming Carr's downfall on the o-line. I feel like I've just seen a DoDo bird. I thought they were all extinct. ...Back to topic.
Yeah, if he skips throwing at the combine, it'll lower his draft stock at least temporarily if anyone else does throw and looks good but he can get some or all of that back with a good pro day. Either way it shows a lack of confidence. yes AFTER that. IT does look bad if you feel like you have to skip any of it though. How so?
It's funny that someone would say And then say Immediately afterwards. I guess that means that he held on to the ball too long, but he shouldn't have held on to it that long. The Carr thing is dead now but one of the main reasons he failed is because he went to a completely incompetent organization with no leadership or competent coaching whatsoever. The kid had no O line, and no one to help teach him how to be an NFL QB. The Texans have come a long way since then, but they ruined him as a prospect with their incompetence.
TB has nothing to prove by throwing at the combine. Outside of the deepball, sis arm is not really in question...well outside of those ridiculous tools that keep making stupid arguments/points. Plus, like someone else mentioned, it's better to throw to guys who you are used since you have a feel for where they will be. They are doing the prudent thing given their situation. Size, and possibly speed if you get knitpicky, are the only things that people were questioning him for him and he's pretty much debunked the size issue
To use your phrase "scouts aren't dumb", if Teddy doesn't throw (at the combine) could it be that he was advised against it by his reps? (Not the he "lacks confidence") The kid went to a non- football power (Louisville) with a coach he believed in (Charlie Strong) and worked his tail off. In 3 years he came away with a degree, multiple bowl wins, and a chance to be the number one pick in the draft. That doesn't sound a kid who lacks confidence.
I'm pretty sure he means; he held the ball too long to start, causing multiple sacks, therefore when the rush did in fact come he was quick to try to elude the rush when there wasn't much of one. Obviously the organization had a lot to do with his development but development doesn't just end where you start. He went to Carolina and NY but still had nothing to show... I would put that one him just as much as it was the coaching staff.
