1. Granger can break down at any time. 2. People are rating Turner without considering the Larry Legend influence. Look what that Franchise did for Lance Stephenson...Pacers can win it all this year.
Over the rest of this season, Turner's floor = Granger's ceiling thus it is at worst a wash at best it's a significant win
I don't like this deal at all for Philly. They essentially come away with a second round pick. That sucks. Maybe they just wanted to do Turner a favor by sending him to a good team? Otherwise, it's just a favor to Indiana. Eh, consider the compensation. Turner for an injured and underperforming player who is going to leave in the offseason anyway sounds like a pretty good deal. Turner for a young, starting quality center that you were not long ago hoping (perhaps unrealistically) to package in a deal for LMA or Kevin Love doesn't sound as great. In any case, Turner's contract doesn't fit well with the Rockets if we do indeed preserve 2015 cap space. We'd have to re-sign him this offseason, which would destroy our 2015 space.
Philly was winning nothing this year. At the end of the year, Philly would not have Turner if they kept him. At the end of the year due to the trade, Philly has a second round pick. This is a mutually beneficial trade and is a textbook Rockets trade. Getting something from guys that are either expiring and our needed to be traded to obtain cap space.
Plus, Philly is openly tanking and got rid of two more players that gave them a chance to win games. They don't get bad PR for not signing them this summer. They're clearing the way for a massive rebuild, and are being smart about it. Philly probably knows no FA is banging down their door, but (a) they will have max cap space in 2014 and 2015 and (b) being able to offer a TE is 9999x more valuable than offering a bloated expiring contract these days. And with all their draft picks this June, they could suddenly look really appealing to a star FA after next year. Hinkie is putting them in perfect position for a rebuild.
Screw the stats? OK -How's he gonna give them 14 ppg playing far fewer minutes on a much slower-paced team? He only scored 17 playing franchise minutes with the green light on an ultra-fast team? If he plays at the same poor efficiency level in Indy as in Philly, he'd be lucky to crack 10 ppg.
This would be true in the past. I don't think it is anymore. Morey changed the game completely. Teams are scared ****less about trading 1st rounders nowadays, especially if you're not getting a franchise guy or star. Plus, Turner probably wont be with Indiana for much longer so it's not like he was all that valuable for them.

Not sure where you're going with this... I'm a Heat fan and I could not care less if they signed Danny Granger, I just posted that bc I saw it. The only possible value Granger would add to Miami is inside knowledge of the Pacers plays/strategies, but I doubt there's anything he'd add that wasn't already figured out from scouting. Beasley can't even get on the floor, so I doubt Granger would either.

Evan Turner is likely to be a rental for the Pacers as I believe he will pursue a starting job somewhere next year. Granger is probably headed to the Clippers after he's bought out. Doc Rivers dropped out of several trades only to cleared 3 spots on the roster for a reason. First Big Baby...next will be Danny Granger...and then they are waiting for Lakers to buy out Chris Kaman.
