No regrets. If Morey did not get Rondo it was because it was for too much.

Rondo is a good player but the fit could be a problem so you don't trade the farm for him. Hold onto your chips. A year from now we could be talking about acquiring Love instead.

Morey knows another all-star player will shake loose somewhere else, he just has to wait for the opportunity to come. Hopefully players like Jones and D-Mo will continue to grow and prove to be nice trading assets for the inevitable Love sweepstakes.

    Parsons and 2 1st rounders?!?!? 2?!?!?!

Yea throw a drink in their faces. HELL NO.

If not for CP we would have been down by 20 in the first half.

the thing is love has no playoff experience, while rondo has put in some of the greatest playoff performances of the past decade. dwight is already 28 and also has a player option to leave after next season, so i'm not completely comfortable just biding time till another opportunity comes up. especially since in this case there was really no other team we had to compete for to get rondo.

Rondo is and was never a really a star. He will be on the decline for years to come.

Yeah they mentioned this on TNT as well. Seems like a pretty hefty price. The defense and passing of Rondo is nice. However since only Parsons and Jones actually cut on the team that passing wouldn't be as good if Parson's isn't here. Not to mention shooting the 3 is absolutely key on our team. Rondo seems to be a negative in that area.

    Sigh…

Managing an NBA Franchise isn't like NBA 2k dude… if you got your wish and Morey got rid of Lin and Asik (despite there obviously being a small market for them) you'd say "MURRAY WART DA HELL IS U DOIN!?" when the pieces we get back in return are underwhelming.

Let Morey do his thing. He's proven enough times that he is much, much smarter than the armchair GM's on Clutchfans...

Rondo is a huge upgrade over any of our PGs. But he's still not our ideal PG because of his shooting woes. I'm not sure if his lack of shooting puts a ceiling on our team that is high enough to win it all.

I want Kevin Love -- badly. And because of that, I'm glad Morey kept all his assets for the offseason.

Love + SVG next year is my dream.

In the wake of this, the only reason I can see for not doing it is that you don't trade the player that went out and got Howard to come to your team. That could be back stabbing karma you deal with for 20 years after.

I think that entire "Parsons recruited Dwight" thing is a tad overblown. Dwight was coming here to play with James Harden, not Chandler Parsons. More than likely Parson's agent (who also represents Dwight) just trumpeted up the entire thing for the press to raise his value.

I don't want to knee-jerk after one game, but yeah, when our offense breaks down at the end of the game and it's James Harden against 5 guys, yeah, it seems like Rondo would be able to help out there.

Rondo is different than Chandler in that he can create and handle late game situations.

Team ball will help with that more than just one player that isn't coming here this season anymore anyway.

I wanted Rondo. And in fact as the last few days went on, wanted him more and more for the Rockets.

But I was not willing to give Parsons to get him. And I know Rondo is the better player.

I am sure Morey laid some good groundwork on a potential Rondo deal. He can revisit that deal (sans Parsons) this summer, when Rondo is closer to becoming a FA and Boston will have to look at getting back less value if Rondo threatens to leave.

A lot of the great summer deals really start with the groundwork laid during the trade deadline.

I'm not sure what you mean. At the end of the game when the pressure was on it was clear Harden was the only one who could handle the increased defensive pressure. After he got injured our offense went to total ****.

"Team ball" works well throughout the game but at the end people need to be able to step up and create, Rondo would certainly have helped us in the late game situation.

How late game situations are handled depends heavily on the coaching. If their only answer is just give it Harden, then that's on them.

Danny Ainge: Houston Rockets Were “Never In Discussion” For Rondo
[rquoter]Danny Ainge joined Felger and Mazz this afternoon on The Sports Hub radio to talk about the trade deadline. During the course of the interview, he told the hosts that Rondo not only wasn’t close to going to the Rockets, discussions never began in the first place.

    The quote:

I think there’s a lot of people that have had interest in Rondo, but Houston was never ever in a discussion with us throughout the whole trade deadline. Parsons never came up, Rondo never came up. I saw four or five different talk shows, ESPN guys talking in the studio about these issues. Someone just made it up. It was created out of the air and reported on for the next week.[/rquoter]
