Try not getting too butthurt over an internet board. You're getting this entertainment mostly for free.

It actually helps in real life when you have to deal with people who have far more devious and intentional actions.

Also you wonder just how *significant* the infos are.

Suppose this was the phone call.

Morey: So Rondo, on the market?
Ainge: Sure. Give me Parsons, flip Asik for a 1st rounder and send it to me, and your own 1sts in 2014 and 2016 unprotected.
Morey: No. I don't want to give up Parsons. Would you take Jones instead?
Ainge: No. Parsons or no deal.
Morey: Call me if you're willing to take Jones instead of Parsons
Ainge: Same, you call me if you willing to include Parsons
    .
    .
    .
Neither side actually call the other one.

    cyberx: Rockets interested in Rondo.

In this case, cyberx has both true and relevant info. But it's still something that clearly had a very remote chance of happening. This isn't haggling on protection of a pick, or whether to involve an extra 2nd rounder. There is a sizable gap between Parsons and any other asset we give up. So there was likely both no "ongoing talks" if both sides held steady. It's also likely that both sides did.

No, that was only one source: the Celtics.

If you have followed the NBA for a decent amount of time you would know this is normal and it is clear we were going after Rondo.

The TNT crew talked about this during the halftime show tonight... debated whether the Rockets should give up Parsons and two first round picks.

Of course some people are gonna say the Rockets should of traded Parsons for Rondo but it feels like they haven't watched Parsons play recently.

Morey loves his first round picks. If it was 2 future first rounders and maybe even a second then yes. But I would hate to give up any picks in this draft.

I look forward to the annual Morey looking to trade up in the draft news.:)

That's not fair, Rondo has the heart of a champion and he knows he's not winning anything in Boston.

I'm glad we finally got the freakin details of this trade.

It's good to question the quality and direct line of the rumor. I think that's totally fair game.

Though as a fan of the league, even 4th or 5th hand (I don't know how close down the line cyberx or other insider's info are) information offers some really cool insights.

I used to hit refresh during the ESPN Insider heydays and that information was mostly rubbish off their local affiliate network's newspaper sources.

This is definitely closer, but there are people who are unimpressed about everything even if they get a direct source since they're more interested about the attention it gets and are self absorbed enough to visibly grab that much needed attention for themselves. I think that's the problem that needs solving, not the information and what it does.

clutch can you just make a moron meter? and when most of these guys get too much moron rep...they lose posting privileges for a week lol

The only problem with clutchfans is how many dumb people post. 80% are great but that 20% is hard to deal with. On top of it seems the dumber they are the more they post.

Geez...is it that hard to realize that if someone says hey rockets may trade for rondo WAY before anyone...then ever media outlet jumps on it ...then that person obviously has inside info.

Clutch himself is even backing the guy up.

If I was clutch I would just go on a ban spree lol ...clean the board up.

This is what I treat these rumors as, insights into the team. Well, I also mainly use them to create my own hypotheticals and play internet GM, but I do that regardless. :)

I'm just pointing out how there can be a gap between what an actual info is, versus what it may be perceived as. We cannot tell if a rumor was a trade the Rockets pursued heavily, or if it was just a random call to the other GM out of hope of a bargain. But any rumor that leaks out is generally treated as "Morey is burning the phones trying to get player X" when it could easily just be a courtesy call. "Hey I heard you're dumping salary. Want to dump this guy to us? We'll give you a 2nd round pick."

He can't be any worse than Casspi.

Where the heck was Garcia tonight? He did pretty good last game.

We'd probably be more willing to give up Parsons if we had any depth at SF. Too bad we don't.

Any regrets out there on not trading Parsons for Rondo. I'm torn. Parsons is a great role player but he is not a star.

i consider feb 20th a black swan day on the houston rockets calendar. maybe morey will be able to get that 3rd star impact player down the road thru free agency or S&T, but this was a big opportunity missed. players like rondo just don't become available in their primes all that often. and what's worse is i'm not convinced that parsons was held out of any trade here just because of court production. like cyberx already stated, that fact that he's white clearly resonates with the fanbase, so maybe season ticket sales or corporate box seats or what have you also played some role here….which is unfortunate imo.
