Hmm... It sounds as if he is trying to kiss Rondo's ass, but then when you consider the timing of the statement he clearly was interested in trading Rondo for the right haul. A very ambivalent message from Ainge.
Ainge and Morey talked I am sure. The 'foundation' of the trade was probably laid. They drew their lines in the sand on the terms. They walked away..... Chances are they come back to the table in the summer, and by then, the terms might be a bit different with Rondo being 1 year closer to leaving.
To some degree -- chemistry certainly factors into the championship equation. This team is happy & unified, and Dwight appears to have turned a corner this month. No "homerun" deals materialized, so Morey & crew elected to keep the current core in tact.
