Except that we had doubled our chances of a young talent developing into a useful player that fits the role the team need. Not saying Brooks is not useful at all but as a 3rd PG that is just a waste.
Every year there's hype around trade deadline because Houston is always in discussions for trades. And every year, we hardly make a big splash, so you should already expect a small trade. Not sure what else yall want Morey to trade for. Our biggest asset is Parsons and majority of cfans don't wanna get rid of him. You can't expect to trade scraps for a star, that's being delusional.
If that's the case why the heck did Morey make the trade? What if Bev or Lin get injured again? SMH, I don't get this...
He was closer than Hamilton. I'd rather have the best 3rd string PG in the league over a guy playing behind Harden/Parsons/Garcia/Casspi to go along with Brewer and Covington.
We wanted 2nd round picks like Philly got. Last year we had cap space but couldn't take advantage of it at the trade deadline.
That's my point. Brooks wasn't going to get any burn off the bench. And Morey did the right thing and traded him to a team he becomes a rotational player. This trade was more for Brooks than what we got in return. It's the best Morey could do to help out Brooks and get something back that wasn't a total waste. I am interested to see Hamilton play but realistically I'd much rather see Covington.
3rd string pg who is no longer playing..garcia is the only wing back up and hes been terrible for the most part this season
I don't get how you people are confused about the logic of the trade. They traded a 3rd string 29 year old point guard for a 23 year old wing player with upside at our weakest position.
I never even made an assumption, was simply wondering aloud. We are still allowed to do that on these boards, are we not? Yes, most of us understand that the team is in a very different place than the retooling/rebuilding project of the last few years. But by all accounts the front office has been pretty busy trying to make trades. Stop trying to push this narrative that the Rockets are just wanting to stand pat and contend as is. It's not an invalid question to ask how much the Rockets braintrust lost with the departure of Sam Hinkie, and whether or not we are seeing its effects what with the precipitous decline in the number of small yet meaningful trades.
Just reviewed Hamilton, and looks like a younger Parsons with better rebound/steal/block rate but worse passer. Good trade to add youth/potential and meet team need.
I hope this Hamilton dude pans out, but I'm really sorry to see AB go. If ever a deal was "on the margins," this is it.
