Right now Ainge believes that they can get a better offer during the offseason so there is no rush to make a trade.
2 hrs left. Then I can finally stop refreshing. Luckily at work I can't do it as often but after all the clips showing out great chemistry I can't see us making a huge move.
Actually, I have said this twice. I mentioned that I was hoping if the Celtics need a "sweetener" that TJones would be just that (over Parsons). I would LOVE to keep Jones, but you have to give to get. Ainge wanted 2 1st round picks. Probably wants Parsons+1st. Morey probably will go as far as Jones+1st. Maybe Morey is working on secondary deals to acquire a 1st round pick or 2nd round picks to "add" to the pot for Rondo so he won't have to give up Parsons
Have anyone seen rondo play this year? He has been limping around on the court no way that they give up Chandler for Rondo if so this team will crumble book it
It's not ideal but I would still do it. You're getting the opportunity to team up three all stars. And you have someone to put up against Westbrook Parker and Paul. Parsons is great for us but he's not gonna be the make or break for a championship. You guys hold him on too high of a pedestal. He has big weaknesses. Can't create his own shot and his defense has been pretty poor since last year
FYI, the "team minimum salary" thing is based on actual PAYROLL, not cap figure. Remember, Asik only makes $5.225 million this season, and the Sixers would only be paying about 1/3rd of that amount as part of its payroll. Philadelphia trading for Asik would not materially help it hit the salary minimum requirement. If anything, his contract is the least "meeting payroll to cap figure ratio" contract they could possibly add (along with Lin's). Does that mean Asik WON'T be traded to Philly in the next two hours? No. But the minimum salary issue would NOT be a real factor in such a deal.
I have already stated that in this thread. Jones was most likely offered already. The Rockets would then need Bass in return. They would improve tremendously.
These are questions morey & staff are asking. With spurs (Parker OUT) clippers (reddick OUT) I think the time is now. & the league see is as fav. In west if we get RONDO 1. Does morey know les is not going to pay him already ? 2. Does he have more value now or next year at deadline as an expiring when teams know he's about to be a free agent ? 3. Who makes us a better playoff team rondo PG or SF parsons ? 4. Both expire 2015 we remain flexible. 5. Would morey rather want parsons bird rights or rondos to pay $10-15mill to & still be able to chase 3rd star? 6. Parsons is the glue now because bev starts and we need another playmaker besides harden. Will parsons playmaking skills still be needed when you bring in an playoff experience ball dominate TRUE PG ? 7. Will more of a lockdown 3&D guy be needed at the 3 in playoffs ? 8. Parson 40% from 3, How has parsons D been lately, is he going to slow down Durant, Crawford, George, lebron in the playoffs ? Morey would be a joke around the league if he doesn't form a big 3 of HOWARD, HARDEN, RONDO because parsons got in the way. It's tough as homers that we don't want to see him go, but defense is more important when you bring in rondo not playmaking at the 3.
Like I said, there's no guarantee. Not many teams are willing to give up multiple picks and prospects for a potential one year rental. The time to deal is now.
Guys - check NBA.com and do a player comparison of Parsons and Gordon Hayward. Hayward didnt sign ext with Jazz this past summer because he wanted a max deal. Stats are ALMOST identical... This is what CP is going to demand, ESPECIALLY after being underpaid his first few years. Please be mindful of that.
Clearly you haven't seen Rondo play this year. He has come close to having five triple-doubles in only 11 games. Try again.

Bingo. Totally agree. No way Morey gives away Parsons. My guess is Morey has a deal with Philly for Asik and he's gonna call Ainge in an hour and tell Ainge what Ainge's options are without Parsons being involved. Take it or leave it. And then if Ainge don't budge, Morey actually keeps Asik until the offseason and deals Asik for that New Orleans pick then.
I don't play video games lol. Sorry but nice try! You have to ask yourself do you think Rondo is an elite PG when healthy or is Parsons an elite SF? I side with the former and not the latter but that's just me. When you can add an elite player to your team you do it every time and figure out how everything will fit later.
