Me too, but he makes more than triple what they make, and has 2 more years on his deal.

I called their being at least 2 small trades today.

What a boringly predictable trade deadline so far.

One thing is for certain if we get Rondo. The Rockets will be the most played team in 2k and Rondo will lead in steals on-line.

Totally agree with you that Rondo would have been a huge difference maker for us. A true floor general. However, like I stated last night, if I am Ainge, I am demanding Parsons to be included in any Rondo deal.

Unless something breaks in the morning, then we can assume Morey and Ainge have reached an impasse and no deal is forthcoming.

Fine. I like this team, but we still need to bring at least some bench help. At least a defensive guy who can play the 3 and the 4, to relieve Parsons.

No, American. Family and I live and work here. We lived in Houston before moving here. Missionaries.

Little-used Steve Novak made the game winning shot in that 89-87 victory that extended the Rockets win streak to 8 games. Novak actually did not play well-- he was getting killed on the defensive end and had a -7 +/- that game. The player with the best +/- was Chuck Hayes with +18.

Novak was traded to the Clippers after the 2007-08 season for the right to swap 2nd round picks. The right was exercised at the 2011 draft, which enabled the Rockets to draft Chandler Parsons after a series of convoluted deals. The Rockets initially conveyed that pick to the Minnesota Timberwolves, but later bought it back for cash as compensation upon discovering that Jonny Flynn's hip injury was worse than first thought.

The fact that Jonny Flynn had a substantial guaranteed and expiring contract in 2011-12 led to the Rockets keeping him as the 3rd PG over Jeremy Lin when a player had to cut to sign Samuel Dalembert. Jeremy Lin's contract was picked off waivers by the New York Knicks, who had Steve Novak on its roster back then. Jeremy Lin became a starter when all their other options got injured. Lin's play was helped by, and helped, sharpshooter Steve Novak. Novak had his best season ever, and signed a substantial contract with the Knicks while Lin moved on to the Rockets.
Novak was later traded to Toronto in the Bargnani deal, reuniting him with fellow 2007-2008 Rocket Chuck Hayes.

Meanwhile, Rockets players Lin and Parsons see their names in trade talks and Morey tweeted a video of Novak's shot.

    Everything is connected.

I will be right for at least two weeks. By then the hype will have died down (and the Rockets will have lost a game or 2 thus ending the streak). Also, I think the Rondo prediction about him leading the league in steals on-line is accurate. If I am playing against LeBron or Durant then I am not going to give the ball to my SF (Parsons) very much. Other players have no choice with Rondo since they have to play through their PGs (at least bring the ball up) and Rondo smothers PGs on D and he has the pick pocket thing.

Aw, you're such a sweetheart. Can you join us in our circle now and explain your no chance theory again?

Deals like this happen at the deadline for many reasons. The entire NBA has been quiet. Do you really think this deadline will come and go with only a few minor trades? This is the big shakeup so far:

Also, Rondo was quoted saying to "get your autographed jersey quick before I change uniforms" by the Boston announcer. You can hear the story on the Phoenix game if you have league pass. It's towards the beginning of the game.

Did he really say that? Wow. That's a nice nugget that you found.

Well, I guess this thread will still be alive and well until tomorrow's deadline.

Also, the general manager for Boston was interviewed and talked about "short term growing pains" and having "a great draft situation going".

More to come if I find anything on their broadcast.

Come on Morey, get us Novak!

Not sure if serious if anyone thinks Casspi (35.5% 3 point shooting) is better than Novak in our system.
Casspi might be an overall better player, but Novak is an absolute beast at shooting 3s (43.1% career average, and that's higher than Korver's).

Novak can definitely be an impact rotation player for the Rockets. He is similar to Asik in the sense that he is a specialist, and his strength is at shooting 3s. His career True Shooting is an absurd 61.7%!! When you play him beside Dwight or Asik, you can shield most of his defensive liability, so he can absolutely maximize his strength. He is now a seasoned veteran, so I don't expect him to be as bad defensively as before. His offense production dramatically outweighs his defensive liability.

Contract: He just costs 3.8M a year for 3 years but functions like Korver. I don't think he is a stuck contract if we really need to get rid of him in the future.

Tradability: He is hardly used by the Raptors. I would think the Raptors is open to getting out of his contract and getting a 2nd rounder or Greg Smith in return.

I will dig and dig and dig. Don't give up. Rondo does things that Chandler just can't. I love what Chandler has done, I love his skill set, I love his attitude toward the team, but he's not the offensive beast that Rondo is.

A point guard. With a post game. Anyone old enough to remember how important post play is will understand what this means.

You can tell that Rondo still cares. This ain't Tracy McGrady coming off surgery. This player still has the fire. Boston sucks and he's playing to win.

If anyone cares about the Vipers reading this, Chris Johnson is getting minutes for Boston and contributing. I'm proud of him. He's been a rock for the Vipes the last two seasons. Nice to see him getting his spot in the NBA for a while. I hope he keeps it. He's a really nice guy. He was good to the Valley.
