Parsons will be an all-star next season with any luck. He would've been an all-star on most other teams. He certainly doesn't have "role player" talent. Pete Chilcutt was a role player. Omri Casspi is a role player. Jeremy Lin is a role player. Chandler Parsons is "5 tool player" to use a baseball term.
It's not the individual player's skills, it's our strength as a team. The drop off from Rondo to our point guards is not as steep as the drop off from Parsons to Garcia and Brewer. We'll go from having a hole at point guard to a crater at small forward.
Parsons is an all-star, no. Parsons is a SUPERSTAR, no. Parsons is a bench player, no. So what the hell is Parsons??? An awesome value player because he's cheap and we found him in the 2nd round. I get it he's our web darling, I like the guy too and obviously Morey does so as well. BUT if you can give him up and gain Rondo and Deng somehow, you DON'T take that? Wow, then we really are overvaluing our players. Kinda like how we thought Kyle Lowry alone would net us our first star player. Yeah, so much for that. (Lottery picks did it though!)
Rondo with 18 pts 6 rebounds 10 assists 3 turnovers on 33% shooting I admit his shooting sucks but he is great in every other department
Some people are just used to trades on 2K though where all you need is a starting 5 once you turn injuries and fatigue off.
NO?!?!?! Those can't be an all-stars stat line... Can't be that guy is another role player Chandler can get that in his sleep. Please!
Chandler Parsons 2013-2014 stats PPG RPG APG SPG FG% 3P% 17.0 5.6 3.7 1.1 .502 .399 Rajon Rondo 2012-2013 stats PPG RPG APG SPG FG% 3P% 13.7 5.6 11.1 1.8 .484 .240 Chandler is scoring 17 a game as the 3rd option. You're telling me he's not an all-star on another team? Lol. Parsons is of at least equal value to Rondo.
OR maybe he is getting 17 a game BECAUSE he is a third option? Unreal logic some people have on this board. Ill take Rondo for Parsons 100 times out of 100. Rondo can win you a a title with this team.
If you add Rondo and lose Parsons the Rockets offense will collapse because there will not be a single average or better three point shooter on the floor which will let teams sag the lane. Also Paraons deal is such that in 2015 they can use their cap space to sign a near max free agent and then go OVER the cap to resign Parsons. There is no way that Morey moves Parsons for a someone like Rondo. Rondo for Jones and Asik and draft picks? Hell yes but not Parsons under the circumstances. I personally don't doubt Morey wants a Rondo for the right deal, but Ainge won't do it. I think it is dead. Also this "Harden and Howard don't like Rondo's attitude" is nonsense. That is not how it works. GM's don't do that, especially Morey.. It would cause issues in the clubhouse if the deal didn't happen. Morey makes the deal if he thinks it makes the Rockets better, regardless of input.
I don't understand the point you're trying to make. I honestly don't. Are you trying to say he would average more than 17 as a 1st or 2nd option? That's exactly what I was trying to say really.
Rondo's numbers are better in 10 games coming off an acl injury. I do not want to make this trade if it involves Parsons, but you people are being ridiculous. Rondo is one of the top players in the league, stop acting like he is just some average point guard.
things should be heating up now rather than cooling off. i'm guessing we will be left with an 'under the radar' type move that no one saw coming. no rondo, no millsap, no sixers, no dunleavy, no asik or lin trade. i'm guessing it will be garcia/brewer plus the knicks second rounder to upgrade our wing off the bench. whoever it is has to be in the price range of garcia/ brewer or both combined. has to have no more than 2 years remaining in order to keep cap space in 2015. has to be a 3/D player that can play the 2/3. here are my guesses: demarre carroll, cj miles, gary neal, kyle singler, shumpert, tony allen, or morrow. carroll is more of a 3/4, neal more of a 1/2, and allen is signed for 4 years and can't really spread the floor. however, they are in the price range, could be had for the knicks second round pick, and would upgrade our 2/3 so i added them. mostly, i'd keep and eye on miles, singler, and morrow. no big splash, but its ok because we will finish top 3 anyway and strengthening the bench will help advance to the WCF.
Exactly! What is so hard to understand about this. Parsons' output factored by his small contract makes him one of the most valuable players in the league. It would be beyond idiotic to trade him for Rondo and even dumber to give Boston anything more of real value.
He has stated multiple times he is not an insider, he gets a certain amount of information from someone near Mark Berman. I think he enjoys getting to be moderately cryptic with the information he is given. I doubt we hear anything tonight but who knows, The Harden trade was announced late at night as well.
