Console Wars Thread! PS4 vs. Xbox One vs. Wii U Fight!

It is amazing how they are able to make the PS3 and 360 version look nearly identical to one of the next gen console version.

 

Well, you can be sure I'll post thoughts on it when it comes out (WHEN... don't say IF, dammit! ).

And yeah, there's not a lot out there for the next-gens that's really grabbing me yet, either. Assasin's Creed 4 I think is the closest thing to a must-have that's already out.

Still, Monster Hunter / Smash Bros / Mario games are pretty nice bonuses a person can count on with the WiiU, even if they aren't system-sellers for me personally.

What I'd really love to see though is a new Mario Strikers. The original Gamecube version, to me, is still one of the most addictive co-op experiences out there. Shame the Wii version (Strikers: Charged) was an utter compost heap.

Totally understandable... I suppose you probably have to be a JRPG nut like me to really appreciate it. And yeah... I couldn't justify owning a WiiU if this isn't your thing.

 

Of course, something to keep in mind is that even when you run this in 1080 mode on Youtube, it's still compressed quite a bit. Differences in live gameplay right in front of you would come across more clearly.

Still, I agree. The graphics do look startlingly good even on PS360.

RE the WiiU, there's also going to be Bayonetta 2, that seems to be their main 3rd party exclusive attempt to draw in core gamers. Although now that the PS4 and XB1 are already out, I don't think it's going to help them all that much. And still no release date, just "summer 2014."

Yeah, it does look quite nice. The sub-HD and 30 FPS hurt a bit, but I am quite impressed with what they're doing. I'm a little surprised that they seem to be giving the PS4 some special treatment (with dynamic weather, and maybe other things?). Figured they would just scale it up to 1080p and lock it at 60 FPS. This didn't seem like a next-gen port that would receive much effort.

I think there was an uncompressed video from somewhere (Gametrailers). I can try to grab a link of that if someone is interested. Yeah, Youtube isn't really good for things like this.


And yes, I think I will get a Wii U when X is released. X > inFamous/Order/Titanfall/Halo/etc. (well, hopefully...don't think Nintendo will screw it up though).

I don't understand you. You act like you don't know which console you will eventually buy, but you it's obvious you prefer Xbox. The thing is there aren't any games you can't already get on 360 so you don't know what to do. I suggested you wait until the next installment of major titles because they will look and feel more next-gen and worthy of upgrading for. This also gives you time to decide if their are any exclusives you have to have. If not then I think the decision is simple.

You say nothing at all about Xbox One (like a child who's been told if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all), and you attack the other two consoles whenever you can. The thing is you can't really attack them because the PS4 is doing well so you attack Sony and Nintendo is doing the same thing they've always done but nobody bought into their gimmick this time.

Quit fronting and admit you want an Xbox One. I haven't told you to buy a PS4 once and it bothers you that I may be right about it being the smarter console to buy.

Bejeweled blitz on my iPad is dope and it was free.

Street fighter hd remix is still a superior game than any next gen so far.

 

An HD update to a gamecube game and one pretty good game does not make a platform. That's a weak sauce line up right there..

 

I remember going through a Blitz addiction on my iPad 2. I even had SF2 on it and played it. It's just not as fun anymore single player. I would still play it if someone good wanted to play against me.

Damn, I wish arcades were at their peak now rather than the 90s. I would own everyone on Tekken Tag X.

 

Lots of sf2 people online . I believe Xbox 360 and ps 3 had hd remix

 

Those are 2 games beyond anything PS4 or XB1 have.


They've also got:

Luigi U
New Super Mario Bros U
Pikmin 3
Nintendo Land

And nobody is saying that just those make the platform. There is just more for WiiU than PS4 & XB1 right now, and Wii U has some games in the pipeline to compete with major PS & XB titles.

 

I will have to pick up one of them up if the PS4 doesn't release some old school arcade.

Oh yeah, if you jail break your iPad (I'm not sure you can on iOS 7 yet) then you can play any SNES/64 roms with a Wii U controller/gamepad.

 

I just realized Bayonetta 2 is published by Nintendo.
