    To be fair, they would be trading the leader of their team for the past 4 years and helped lead them to an NBA championship for a center who has played next to nothing this year and for all they know is still injured and a SF who has had 1.5 seasons of decent play.

    Unless you really watch the Rockets play and I am guessing they don't being they are an Eastern conference team and it means next to nothing to them what the Rockets do or accomplish, you really don't know what Chandler Bang bring to the table. All you see is a guy who has averaged about 16 points the last 2 seasons on one of the highest scoring and fastest tempoed(?) teams in the league.

    Why? We're tracking it in this thread. There is another thread already for rondo trade analysis...

    and what good is Rondo on the crappy team? Are they to blind to see that team just got a new coach and got rid of the other pieces that got them that NBA championship? Are they to stupid to see that this team clearly is rebuilding and will take time before they are contending again?

    i don't get this sherman tank of thought. elite pgs have problems with the better point guards. it's basketball people are supposed to score.
    rondo's d was excellent in boston because he had bigs that were willing to commit on defending the PnR. Here, he'd be like lin and bev getting caught on screen after screen. actually, rondo has been like that with the celtics since the big three left. The calderons blow right by. Not because rondo can't guard them, but because it takes a team effort and coaching philosophy to contain certain sets.

    When was the last time we struggled with pgs this year? it's either bev shutting them down or lin matching their points. It's the SG and SF positions where the other team's player is able to find a pair of little bow wow's magical shoes. :p If we're going to give up parsons, it has to be for a whale of a catch, like LJ or Love.

    If Morey really wants Rondo now, then Ainge has the upper hand and he will demand Parsons. A trade of Parsons, Lin and Asik for Rondo and Green (draft picks can also be thrown in) works per the trade machine. Lin would thrive in Boston. He will be playing for a fan base that will appreciate his game and a coach with whom he will likely mesh well. Asik would be re-born there. Parsons will probably be fairly steady.

    Lin will be a cheaper quality replacement for Rondo long-term. He will be entering his prime in his next contract and has the scoring ability, size, speed and adaptability to provide Boston a lot of value at that position without having to give away a max contract (which is what Rondo will demand and he isn't the scorer that Lin is). The defensive gap between the two is not as wide as some believe with the right system. Lin has the size to match up with most PGs in this league (save Westbrook) and the speed to create matchup problems for a lot of teams in the league.

    This was my mistake too. I looked solely at how poor a 3 point shooter he was. I went back and watched more of his game and he does so much more besides shoot. He is an elite defender. He covers the passing lanes extremely well. He distributes dimes and can drive and shoot floaters and layups pretty damn good.

    He does all of that other stuff so well that he more than compensates for his deficiencies behind the arc. I still think with Rondo and Howard you got to have 3 point shooters at the other 3 positions or it won't work very well but I'll let Morey figure that out.

    Rondo can probably also play off the ball better than Lin as well.

    Look at Alex Kennedy trying to sound credible...

    @AlexKennedyNBA

    The Houston Rockets have been very active in trade talks. Keep in mind, Rockets GM Daryl Morey has made a trade at the last six deadlines.

    He can move better off the ball, but he can't shoot better off the ball. He's a pretty good shooter off the dribble, but spotting up he really struggles.

    Admitting you were mistaken? Very mature post! Comes with the old age I am sure. He is much like Chris Paul in running an offense to a T. He will get your star players in to better rhythms, as well as run a more efficient half court set.

    I am all for Rondo and it is good that you came to your senses. I knew you would, as you have been putting up some very readable stuff in the Texans forum about Teddy Bridgewater. Rep!

    Am I reading this right? He is a 43.5% 3 point shooter spotting up off the ball?

    That is great and fits perfectly with Rockets policy. We don't take that many 2 point jump shots either way. It's either layups, free throws, or 3 ball

    Agreed, the biggest concern with any possible Rondo deal is that whoever "guards" Rondo would just leave him to double either Harden or Howard (most likely Howard) and dare him to shoot. When Boston played LAL in 2008 and 2010 Finals, Phil switched Fisher and Kobe so Fisher guarded Ray Allen and Kobe roamed off Rondo because he could not beat them by shooting from the perimeter.

    @KBergCBS

    The Mavs, a possible free-agent destination for Luol Deng, have called the Cavs about a possible trade, league sources say.

    been saying this since the rondo debates months ago, dont worry about rondo shooting 3s JONES is the odd man out if we get rondo we just need a shooter at the 4.

    howard & rondo are not 3 point shooters just like jones & howard are not 3 point shooters.
