Either Lin or Asik + Jones, Covington, Rockets 2014 1st round draft pick, NY 2014 2nd round pick, rights to Papanikolaou & Todorovic for Rondo. Take it or leave it Ainge.
Getting Rajon Rondo at the expense of losing Parsons does not make this team more likely to reach the WCF or NBA Finals. Boston can either take multiple picks, and other young assets, or they can watch Rondo walk for nothing next year. I like Rondo, but giving up Parsons to get him is cutting off your nose to spite your face.
Agreed, it would be foolish for Boston to take anything else except Parsons or picks.. And I am not accusing Rondo of being the culprit for the poor chemistry on that team....I'm just saying he was a part of it (and reportedly a major reason Ray Allen left for MIA). And yes, they did win a championship... whether they got along or not, which is all that matters. I think he is a great player, but he just seems like a different kind of breed than Harden/Howard. Much more intense and in-your-face....which is the exact opposite of Harden/Howard. But hell, maybe this team could use a little of that. Regardless, if the trade goes down, I am sure they will find a way to make it work because thier aspirations are all the same....rings. Rondo will def put the Rockets into the WCF conversation. But I don't think it's realistic to expect that this year. It took this team basically a training camp and 50 games to get their feet under them and put together a nice string of games with new personnel. We will essentially be starting over mid-season if we expect him to be the QB of this new "star" studded team.
can't get both I understand the appeal to get both Deng and Rondo, however it is virtually impossible to get both of them due to cap issues. Deng makes 14.3M this year and Rondo makes 12.0M this year per the trade machine. Lin + Asik together make ~ 16.8M. The 125% rule + 100k means that the rockets could take back ~ 21.1M if they are dealt in the same trade. Deng + Rondo = 26.3M Lin + Asik = 21.1M 26.3 - 21.1 = 5.2M. To make up the 5.2M, the rockets would need to send out an additional ~ 4.08M in salary. Some of the remaining salaries on the team are: Jones: 1.6M D-mo: 1.4M Brewer: 1.2M Parsons: 926.5K Casspi: 947.9K Jones + Brewer ~ 2.8M D-mo + Brewer ~ 2.6M To not include both Jones and D-Mo you would have to include both Parsons AND Casspi, or substitute either Covington or Canaan for one of them. So for the very least, we would have to give up D-Mo, Brewer, Casspi, Canaan ~ 4.11M. However, the Rockets have to have at least 13 on the roster, I believe, and trading 6 players and receiving only 2 would leave 15-6+2 = 11, which means the Rockets would have to receive another player (unless they could just sign a D-league player for the minimum or something, I'm not sure). Basically, while it would be awesome to get both Deng and Rondo, I don't see how it would be possible. Rather, it might be possible, but is it really worth giving up D-Mo, Jones, Asik, Lin, Brewer for? that leaves no PF depth, and the Celtics might require us to give up Parsons too.
welcome here. doesnt matter what is credible, names like rondo have been in news for a while. This is nothing new. Of course rockets have eyes on rondo! water is wet. Same way people try to sound like nostradamus calling Love to Lakers when we have been hearing about that for years. Its always easy to say 'it fell thru' so unforunately the crowd will never be satisfied. Thats why you have to give us something new. new info. unearth something. BE LEGEND But anyone that will stand up and claim 'insider' I do appreciate. Keep it coming cyber even though you are operating from occams razor. . Give us something we dont know though. Put your name on it. Trade props who's gone- Asik 2-1 Dmo 3-1 Lin 3-1 Garcia 4-1 Jones -4-1 Parsons 5-1 Brooks? Harden 1000 -1 Howard 1000 - 1
No way you give up Parsons for Rondo. Rondo is a huge upgrade over Bev and Lin but Parsons going would leave a huge void at SF. As things stand, team has no consistent back up for CP. Things will get worse if he goes. Maybe Morey is looking at Lin/Asik/Parsons for Rondo/Green?
Bev can not provide the insane amount of assists like Rondo. I don't think Bev has Rondo's court vision and the ability to break down opponent's defense. You can't compare Rondo and Bev's turnover rate because Bev does not run the floor or handle the ball like a regular point guard who make plays or attack the basket. Bev does have pretty good handles, but primary contributor to his low turnover is because he plays defense and shoot 3s
Haha, I'll take $100 on the Harden action. Anyime you can get 1000:1 odds....you take them. #IndesposableIncome
If Parsons were to be involved, perhaps it's a 3 way with Philly. Something like Asik to Philly Lin/Parsons to Boston Rondo and Turner to Houston. Add picks/fillers where need be
you don think morey would have another deal on the horizon? no way you give up 17 points without having another plan in place after the possible rondo deal
