So, essentially, a move for Deng would mean we are going for it all THIS season. I know Deng is a great glue guy, and Rondo is an elite playmaker, but we can't expect it all to come together in less than half a season.
You are a 99'er so I will go easy on you here. 1)You already admitted that you were way out of whack on this one. I feel no need to address that further. 2)ACL injuries are much different in sports than they were even 5 years ago. Rondo has already been flirting with triple doubles as he has gotten more minutes. Will be a much easier game with two superstars already on the squad.
Just the idea of Morey trading Parsons makes me sick. I want to win a championship as much as anybody, but loyalty has to count for something. I've supported every other trade he has made, even the ones that didn't pan out, but trading Parsons just doesn't seem like the right thing to do here.
Why not? I also believe Deng would resign, if the rockets wanted to resign him. Houston with a healthy and young Harden, Howard, Rondo core is a extremely attractive team to play for, especially if your a player like Deng who's about to exit his prime, a 9 year veteran who hasn't won anything.
Or it might mean that Morey is ready to make a big FA move THIS summer, rather than next. Passing off Asik's and/or Lin's contract in return for one that expires this year helps to accomplish that. If it gets us farther in the playoffs this year, that's gravy.
I think what is holding up the deal is Morey stalling on Ainge. If Ainge does not receive any outrageous deals for Rondo, than Morey is going to pull a fast one on him. I would dangle Jones, multiple picks, Asik and or Lin to get it done. Keeping Parsons would be ideal as the Rockets have his bird rights and can have a core all in their 20's signed for the next several years. The idea would be to sign Rondo to an extension and sign Parsons for a 4 or 5 year deal in the 60 to 65 million dollar range(he will get paid) using his bird rights to fly over the cap. No need to be flexible from this point on. If your team can't win with a Rondo Harden Parsons ???? Howard Than you just need a new coach.
I agree which is way I would hate to see Parsons go but Rondo could be that piece that puts us over the top. I am sure Morey is trying to give up Jones and Dmo instead of Parsons but if I was Boston I would know Parsons is the guy I would want and would most fit in with their current rebuild plan As for the big 3 era - he was a 2nd year player when they all came in and emerged - and we dont know how much of it was him being the brash young kid or how much of it was KG, Pierce, and Allen being the "its our way we've done it all or the highway" attitude -- i mean those 3 aren't exactly saints themselves and Rondo was the one who provoked them. There was issues from both sides - but it got them 1 ring and almost another despite all that. He just may get along better with our stars here (but then again no one knows for sure until it happens) - I just know Morey help draft Rondo as well when he was with Boston so I am sure knows what he is doing when it comes to wanting him here. But getting Rondo will get the Rockets into the WCF conversation then I am all for it -- this team for all that we root for and the hopes we have has only made it out of the first round once since what 1998? And havent made a WCF since the jazz series
NBA Legion @MySportsLegion 1h The Rockets and Celtics are discussing a Rajon Rondo trade, Celtics asking for multiple picks and Chandler Parsons. (via FOXSports) NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Not reliable. I remember when CF used to bash sources like this. What happened? People are believing everything now.
