"Slap to the face" aside, Parsons is a leader by example off and on the court. When we went through the early rough patch, and Asik was crying about a trade, it was Parsons who said what needed to be said. Additionally, when Harden has been out due to injury, hangover, etc...Parsons seems to elevate his game to another level and help carry this team.

In many aspects, I would say he is the glue that holds this team together. While this may not be able to be quantified via DM's analytics, I would hope he doesn't ONLY look at these guys as walking numbers. Leadership and chemistry have a lot to do with a team's success. In my opinion, he has many of the same traits that Battier had....which is the type of player all championship teams need.

I think strong consideration should be given to the fact that we are just starting to gel as a team, and that introducing Rondo into the fold this late in the season may produce a negative effect to our offensive flow and chemistry. At least for the first few weeks....perhaps even leading into the playoffs?

Additionally, it was reported during the "Big 3" era in Boston, that the big stars were not his biggest fans. My concern is how well will his fake tough guy attitude will mesh with the seemingly "just ball and have fun" attitude of Harden and Howard?

All that being said, I'm with you....20 years has been too long. I would just hate to see us jump at the first shiny thing that we think is gold, and it turns out it only to be tin foil. All at the expense of killing the solid chemistry this team has appeared to have developed over the season.

It's hard to rank rondo because he needs teammates to help him out, in the perfect system rondo is no doubt a top 3 point guard, but you put him on a crappy team or done use him right and he becomes roughly a top 10

Before Rondo got injured. He was a top 3 point guard on that list.

    Paul, Rose, Rondo

No reason to think he will not get back there when he is only 27 and has never relied on athletic ability to get things done.

Barring any major injuries, I just think Rondo's playmaking abilities are really underrated on this board. I agree he may not be the best compliment next to Howard due to his poor shooting but he will make the back court defense better and his teammates better. Let Rondo dominate in assists, Howard with rebounds, and Harden with points.

I would of thought we'd of kept Jones and traded Parsons to the Celtics if we were acquiring Deng.

    Rondo

If Something happens today I would be surprised...Morey will drag this out until he gets exactly what he wants...

That would be impossible to defend. There is no way Morey pulls that off though. I can't see Boston giving up Rondo without Parsons. Ainge seems tough to deal with.

Jeremy Lin, Chandler Parsons and 1st rounder for Rondo
Asik, Casspi (un garunteed contract), Brewer (un garunteed contract) for Deng

    Rondo / Bev
    Harden / Garcia
    Deng / Covington
    TJones / DMo
    D12 / Smith

I would sure as hell miss CP25 but Deng is pretty good himself

Deng is only worth it if he's had for little, not as a Parsons replacement.

I'm hoping the draft rights to Kostas Papanikolau and Marko Todorovic have high value for Cavs or Celtics during these talks.

I know Deng has to be traded separately, but maybe Cavs get lured into trading Dion Waiters.

Lin/Asik/Jones/Waiters/Dmo/1st round pick (via houston) to Boston
Green/2nd round pick (from houston via knicks) to Cleveland
    Deng and Rondo to Houston

This. If I recall, he's in the final year of his contract and could walk at the end of the year unless we pay him so much that it kills our chanced of doing anything else on the FA market this summer or next.

Williams is no longer top 10, neither is Rose since he's been injured the past 2 years. I'd rank as follows:

    Paul, Parker, Rondo, Curry, Westbrook.

When you put him on a team like ours, already 2 stars heavy, he could be considered the best in the league. He does his job of being a floor general, getting people in spots to score and creating off the dribble for himself at will.

Based on what limited I've seen since injury, I'd rate him behind Beverley and above Lin. Yes, I admit, my opinion for Beverley is way out of whack based on how most people view him. Beverley provides defense, low turnovers, and three point shooting and provides good production based on his very low usage. A healthy Rondo would be better than him, but I don't expect to see him 100% again. I'd put Beverley around the 15-20 range of PGs.

Would be a insane team, bench super weak though.

I'd be really excited with what morey could do with making a bench for that starters group, he could really focusing on making those little trades and draft pick ups he's so good at the make an outstanding bench, while already having a set starters group.

That makes me feel somewhat better. This is a risky move no matter how you look at it (in terms of chemistry on and off court, the message it sends players, goodness of fit, Rondo getting back to form, etc.) . I just pray everything works out. Getting Deng would lessen the blow big time though. Especially if we keep Jones (another who's hard to part with though less so than Chandler).

Chandler is going to get paid. If we can sidestep paying him and get Deng (who is on the same level as Parsons), get a huge upgrade at PG, keep Jones (getting better everyday), and H&H are cool with it, it's definitely a Moneyball move and one you have to make. Getting the superstars' blessing is key though.

If it was truly like that, Rondo would be a Rocket right now if BOS thinks Bev > Rondo
