I'm not far off from you two .... tho I would like to see a minor upgrade that doesn't change the rotation very much. Asik just has to put his big girl panties on and play ... What do I mean ?? I'd look to upgrade Casspi & Garcia. You have Greg Smith , Casspi , Canaan , Brewer & Covington (I'd rather keep him) along with draft picks as moving parts to bring back someone who can help in the playoffs. They really miss the offensive punch that Delfino gave them off the bench last year , would be nice to pick up a guy who could give you ~10-12 points off the bench or give you a spot start in a pinch while being a plus defender. (Courtney Lee sure woulda been nice)

Pure hypothetical here: Say we could get Love AND Minny's lotto pick this summer for Harden. Then we trade that Lotto pick and our pick with Asik for Rondo. Rockets could keep Parsons and Lin while adding Rondo and Love. Rondo, Parsons, Love and Howard....would you do it?
Hmm...Love and Harden is a wash. Both put up big numbers while playing no defense. But there are more star power forwards then shooting guards so having Love is better then having Harden. Plus imagine Love's long range bombs to Parsons. Amazing.
I say we go for deng, cavs are seeking to move him for something. He could be our 4/3 hybrid. Not sure what we would surrender for him but Asik our draft pick and maybe someone else. I'd hate to give tjones but we need to atleast have one extra 7 ft player on the team so can't send moti.
Deadlines force all parties to show their hand. Before the deadline, if a team isn't happy with a deal they can just procrastinate and look around for a better deal. After the deadline there can be no deals at all. The other major time when there are trades is the draft. The glut of trades then is for a different reason. At that time the market is more liquid, i.e. there are more assets (draft picks) people are willing to consider trading and with a wider range of values. So it's easier to get trades to balance out.
Interesting!!! GS has a trade $9.8 million exception, however I don't know if the owner would to go into the luxury tax. Barnes for Faried seems more logical. If I was GS, I would also try to get Lin. I don't know why they don't instead keep Barnes & trade Iggy either. I also don't think Morey should worry about improving GS too much by trading them Asik because that's not good for the NBA.
IMO, all good until you said "and Parsons" Agreed 100%, Lee is a MUCH BETTER fit with these Rockets now than when he was here the first time.

Why would any team trade a promising, and cheap, young player for a backup C who costs $15 mil next season? Why do so many fans not understand that ZERO teams want to pay $15 mil to a guy playing 15-18 minutes/game, tops? Including Houston?
This works: Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik to New York; Tyson Chandler and Ronnie Brewer (filler) to Phoenix; Donatas Motiejunas, Phoenix's 2014 first round pick, and Emeka Okafor (expiring contract) to Cleveland; Luol Deng, Iman Shumpert, C.J. Miles, and Miles Plumlee to Houston. The Knicks placate Carmelo and the fan base. The Suns get a huge upgrade at C for nothing they really need. The Cavs take what they can get for Deng. The Rockets unload the contracts of Lin and Asik, upgrade at backup F, get a MUCH cheaper backup C, and replace Lin in the rotation with Shumpert.
