People are so clueless when it comes to a lot of this stuff. Leaks come from all over the place. Players talk all the time. You think that Morey is making a deal without talking to Dwight and Harden? Agents get wind of it too. To act like it's unfathomable for people to hear about trade info is ridiculous. I'm not going to get into an argument about it because it's obvious that minds are already made up but people who you wouldn't expect to hear stuff all the time..
How has it gotten sad? If anything its good times for a Rockets fan. We know someone is on the way out and most likely its going to be for an upgrade to the team. If no trade is made we can enjoy the current roster that continues to get better. Because people believe that we have chance at Rondo does not make it sad or stupid. We are fans and we have every right to hope for big names in our team. Maybe some don't understand how trades and cap space really work but that's not for them to worry about. That's what Morey is there to do. Figure $hit out and make the team better.... How does that saying go? If there's smoke there must be a fire.. Its a Rockets fan forum, relax and let people be....
Sigh. I am arguing from the GM's leak proof position. Do you really want my opinion of the current Rockets fans exaggerated, highly optimistic and unrealistic expectations of the impact of Rondo on this team? I would be totally down with trading Lin and a 2014 first round pick for Rondo. Beyond that no.
This thread's two biggest rant-mavens (jtr = just the rant) join forces, sink together. blub blub blub blub blub
No please, we don't want your opinion. I think your opinion is clear, you told us again and again what you believe. Understood. Tomorrow we will know how this team will be for the remainder of the season and everything will be as usual.
Sounds crazy, but actually I can see Presti taking our offer over that. OKC was in win-now mode, making Martin the key piece. He did shoot 43% from 3pt range last year and provided a lot of offense (61% TS) so pretty much as expected. Beal is on the upswing, but he's played like a young guy with a lot to learn. 51% TS, his stat from last year, is not what you want for a key role player on a contender. Taking that deal would have really hurt their chances at contending last year. Beal and Porter have more value now, but Lamb has developed pretty well too.
I apologize for not reading all 111 pages of this thread, but what are jtr and Zoplicone advocating? Thought it was already pretty much established that cybrex is legit, prob related to sports agency, particularly w/ LA. He just says some of the things he hears around his grapevine at work/rumblings in the league. I don't think he vouches for their accuracy any more than you would hearing stuff through your grapevine at work. Whether Morey is leaking that stuff out to the league on purpose or not (or if there is even a league) is fools gold to try to figure out haha.
problem is that rondo isnt the type of player you can build around - even when they had the HOF trio the team was still built around Pierce and Garnett. Rondo is what you could call the 'Chris Bosh' when it comes to stars - he wont be able to take a team far into the playoffs on his own without having other players on his team with the same or higher talent level as him. Now just like 'Bosh' if he is the 3rd option plus then he becomes that essential piece that necessary for the team to win it all. Without him the team could make it far but with him on the team it becomes expected even though he could be over looked. Also I am not sure how the Boston faithful are with Rondo - I have a few friends in that area who are still upset with the whole Rondo/Allen/Rivers fiasco from a few seasons ago and add in his recent injury that has seen him out of the lineup - I dont know how they would react to building around Rondo.
Exactly. But what benefits Ainge dosn't neessarily benefit Morey. And detemining what is a benefit is a broad question. Consider our very own Morey. He wanted to trade Asik in December to create a fake deadline and leaked that info to the press. That was a leak he thought would benefit him. Of course it backfired but that still doesn't take awy from his desire to leak the info. Another example Dolan wants his fans to believe in a young player like Tim Hardaway Jr. So he puts out there, "We have recieved offers for Hardaway but we have no intention in trading him". That serves 2 purposes. It calms fans and lets them know we are not going to trade this kid for nothing and it lets GM's know if your going come knocking for him you better bring the bank. That's a smart leak. There are no absolutes. GM's do whatever works for them and that includes leaks. It's a cutthroat world out there and perception is half the battle. Morey must make a 100 calls a day and sometimes that info is leaked. I never believe what any reporter says unless he has a credible history. But still many reporters get it right many times. GM's understand they have to work with the media so they have to feed them bits and pieces of info here and there. Sometimes those leaks are information that GM's share amongst each other. You could say it's just GM chatter but if you do not believe it happens you are fooling yourself.
I believe that we are advocating that Rondo is not a superstar and to offer Boston more for Rondo than it took to pry Harden from OKC would be monumentally stupid.
Another player Morey has coveted in the past that I personally am not too fond of is Rubio. It would be a "classic" Morey move if he were to land him.
Stop hounding cyberx. He is doing a great job at leaking insider info. It keeps a lot of us engaged and is valuable information (for what it's worth and this varies from person to person). If you feel it's baseless or fabricated rumors, you always have the option of not visiting this thread again instead of bringing that up in every other post.
I believe you're monumentally stupid because you're already complaining about something that hasn't even happened yet. Dumb.
I'm sure cyberx is legit... but where is he getting his information from? Even if somebody works for the organization, false rumors can still spread around the organization unless you are getting information right from the top.
Actually I am just trying to inject some perspective into a pitiful display of fan lemming like behavior. Have you actually read some of these "fans" proposed offers for Rondo? Shouldn't there be an alternative opinion expressed?
