http://www.buzzfeed.com/chrisgeidner/transgender-advocate-janet-mock-piers-morgan-sensationalized Cliffs: This "thing" was born a male, did underground prostitution work, then had a sex change and cut off her scrotum at 18, tucked it, whatever. She went on Piers Morgan to talk about her story, was fine, then after the show started attacking him because he said she used to be a boy? Apparently that's not the terminology to use? Misplaced in the body of a male or something to downplay it... and now she's claiming she felt oppressed because her father felt she should do boyish things, as she had testicles, and parents with babies should not identify them or expect them to do things based on their gender. Do you agree with the lgbt community wanting free healthcare for all the hormones and sex change operations (not cheap at all)? To me this is outrageous as children with birth defects or certain handicaps deal with it on their own accord (or parent's). I mean this is the lead speaker for the LGBT community and it all seems ridiculous.
Why do you care? Should I tell you the details of my life to see if you have any concerns or recommendations for me?
I truly believe you came here for unbiased, rational discussion. I'm sure your mind is open to different view points on this subject.
<br> You could honestly say that about literally anything at all that is ever discussed. What a bad post. Then again I don't read the D&D and have no idea who is trolling and who isn't. So carry on.
OP, I think you should walk down by the river, strike a match, hold it very close to your genitals, and assure yourself of your gender. With all due respect, it seems clear to me that you have doubts. Confront your feelings!
Huh?Did you read the link? I'm actually asking how transgenders realistically want to be treated since in their world, a parent should not designate a gender to his children based on their genitals. Or are entitled to free healthcare for sex change ops. That certainly affects me as a taxpayer and a father.
i think you should respect the persons wish to be called what they want. it is important to them and its really no skin off my ass. i dont see the big deal. personally, i feel bad for someone who is so unhappy with who they are that they must do something as radical, painful and socially taboo as changing genders. it is no easy thing. and all the hormones and other drugs you have to take cant be good for you. but again, im all for peoples right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness so if it makes them happy then jo mama is happy. my tattoo artist recently came out as transgendered and im going back for more work next month. he does great work! i just hope i dont refer to him in the feminine while he is working! ive known him for 15 years so its going to be tough!
It's a cosmetic thing. How about people that wanted to have something physically changed about them and have free public care cover it? Can you imagine that? Sex changes on average are more expensive than open heart or brain surgery I believe. But the legislation would have to include everybody else.
Wait, are we discussing the terminology (as the title implies) or whether or not it should be government provided?
I think we're getting to the point where using the "right" pronoun can seem condescending if we're not actually understanding and accepting their gender expression. Not digging in for anything, just got that impression from this cisgender privilege blog post I saw last week.
I don't agree with the position of not treating a boy as a boy from birth and a girl as a girl. There are certainly gender differences. When 99.9% of the population is what there gender is, it is not realistic. Having said that, if someone (adult or child) states they were born the wrong gender, they should be accepted. Calling someone transgender "it" is purposely insulting. As far as paying for gender surgery, doesn't really bother me.
It was not meant as an insult. In context- The host talked about his own baby boy and she argued to not call him a boy or treat him as one based on his genitalia. Just refer to him as a child. Uhh, ok. Even with the slight 0.0001% chance the baby grows to be a transgender, what is the big deal with admitting you were a boy? LGBT sensationalizes these things to such an extent like other people dont have hardships. Next thing we can't call our redheaded brother a ginger in jest
yeah, that was where mock lost me. to say that parents should not impose a gender on their child and wait for them to decide what they are is just ignorant. you're going to confuse and f*** your kid up way more. i feel like gender surgery is like a nose or boob job. it is cosmetic and unnecessary, therefore i dont think it should be covered.
I just don't see the freaking point. If you're a man, and gay and like to dress up and act like a woman. You're still a man, just a gay man or a cross-dressing man. It is freaking science. Man or Woman is just a definition based upon the sexual organs you were born with. I'm fine with gay people, be whoever you want to be... but over-complicating things just gets the masses confused, and the masses fear what they don't understand. The same goes for "marriage equality." If gay activists would have simply called them "civil unions" they'd be legal across the country a decade ago. But no, they wanted it to be "marriage," so states passed laws defining what "marriage" meant. Thus started the pissing match we've been locked in for ten years, and we will be for ten more - I'm sure. Long story short, arguing semantics sets gays back more than it helps.
