Looking at Boston's roster...really the only thing they need to become a pretty good team next year is a shooter or two. Sullinger is playing well. Rondo and Bradley are great defensively and can run the floor/make plays. Green is pretty good and can take over games when he's on. They have a good coach. Humphries is also very good in his role. He's not worth $12 mill but that was a legacy contract from the previous CBA. He would be resigned at a much cheaper rate and be effective. If I were Ainge, I might just build around Rondo and look for some shooters.
Most of Houston's trade deadline deals are out of the blue. Now, if it is someone like Rondo, I would imagine it would be harder to keep from leaking. But, I think it matters more about what teams you are dealing with. Certain teams like to/let details leak while teams like the Rockets keep everything hush hush till the end.
This is my thought process: Morey reads Clutchfans. If he wanted to figure out who it is, you just do the game of thrones trick and tell different people different information. The specific piece that hits the forum, boom, there's your guy. Morey is smarter than me, so, if the info is posted on here, what would be your conclusion? Mine is that Morey knows the info is on Clutchfans, knows the person, tells the person and doesn't care that it leaks because it's the internet and you'd be a fool to use it as a 'source' when you are a legitimate sports writer. Writers work hard to get where they got. It's useless to throw that away integrity over an internet trade possibility that might not work out. If that writer has no integrity and that's their reputation and they come out with it, then who cares. Bottom line, interest boosts on Clutchfans=excited fans and fans are what it's all about. Give them what they want.
My thought process is that Morey and his staff leak nothing except what they want leaked. If Morey is intent on a trade he wants nothing leaked. There was not even a whisper of the MM and PP trade deadline deals last year. The Harden trade can be instructional as to why Morey never wants leaks. If news of those trade talks had leaked, how many teams would have been clamoring to talk trade with OKC? Would the Rockets offer have stood up? Doubtful IMHO.
But there are two sides...Just because Morey doesnt leak something doesnt mean the other team is staying quiet too. OKC could have easily leaked the Harden deal to get teams to enter into the sweepstakes...it was their stupidity that prevailed rather than Morey's ability to keep a secret.
He doesn't ave to leak anything. There's always two sides to every conversation he has and you can bet this time of year his having plenty. By the way, you don't think OKC made it aware Harden was on the block. Houston had the best offer and OKC took it. Martin and Lamb offered present and future replacement for Harden plus 2 first picks. The best they could do.

One trade like the Harden trade does not make a case. But add in the PP and MM trades and a definite pattern emerges. Contrary to popular opinion, NBA teams generally do not leak anything they don't want leaked. And if they leak something it is usually misinformation.
man, if we're going to trade Parsons, we might as well aim higher. Lets go for Kevin Love. Lin + Asik+ 2 1st rounders + TJones + Parsons should get it done. I think Morey is talking to Boston, but ultimately we will only end up trading for Jeff Green or Bass.
I agree with that. But Morey has to make an offer to these GM's to get the ball rolling and the seller is smart to let other GM's know what that offer is to start the bidding. If I'm Ainge I want the market to know what Morey is offering. This is what Morey has put on the table anyone want to up the ante. That's a smart leak. It's just bargaining 101.
There are two ways of letting other GM's know about trade talk. One is to leak it to the public. However the far more efficient way is just to call the other teams GM. Leaky FO's will quickly be out of the trade talk loop. Why would OKC want it out in the public that they were thinking about trading Harden?
I heard we were third on the line for Harden, after GSW and Wizards turned down Presti. So apparently not that many teams
Never said they did. Just saying it would stupid not to let other GM's know your player is on the market and once word gets around leaks happen. It's just the way the media world spins. I have no doubt Cyberx has heard something. Clutch vouches for him and Doc Rocket vouches for him. That's about as solid as it gets on here. Whether is correct or not is another story.
