We suck whenever Parsons is out of the lineup. Seems like we are undefeated in games played without Harden-- is that true? I'm thinking we won't be losing either of them to trades this year. They are the kind of players you are trying to GET in trades.
I've been saying this all along about Rondo. If we acquire him and move both Asik and Lin out without taking on long-term salary then it becomes much easier to play in 2014 free agency. IF Lebron wants to come here (probably not, but if) then we could trade Rondo away and open up cap space. The whole key in my opinion is what are we going to take back with Rondo. I can't see Morey taking back Jeff Green or Gerald Wallace. I think those are deal breakers. However I could see Morey/Ainge finding a place to flip Green that would yield up an expiring. Perhaps Deng? Maybe Stuckey and Jerebko? Maybe GS slides Green into their TPE? Tayshaun Prince since Memphis is apparently looking for a SF? Minnesota? Spurs? Raptors? Wizards? Can't see Morey trading Parsons. I think the deal comes down to Asik/Lin/Jones/picks and we get Rondo and trash back. Probably some minimum salary guys tossed back and forth to maximize the trade and trade exceptions to come out of the deal. Perhaps this deal even costs us both DMo and Jones along with Asik and Lin? I don't know. Ainge wants 2 high picks. He's not going to get them. The next best thing are players on rookie deals that you could make a case would have been in the lottery this year. I think it's fair to say that Jones would have a legit chance to be a lottery pick if he had stayed in school. So, perhaps Jones, our 2014 pick, our 2014 Knicks second rounder, and a future first or perhaps another first from a team that wants Jeff Green. In any case, I think Ainge really wants both Asik and Lin. I think he wants both guys to plug into his lineup. They can dog it out and go to the lottery this year and then next year they can run out a legit playoff starting lineup. The question is swallowing not one but BOTH poison pills for Boston. I think that's what made this deal not go down earlier. It wasn't one guy's poison pill. We've showed over and over how easily that could be swallowed. But both guys? Now that get a little more complicted. However, in Boston's case, if they could move Green for a low first to a team that would either send out nothing (GS) or very little salary, then the Rox could take back more salary and make the double poison pill much easier to swallow. Even a most simplistic case...as of the trade deadline, if Ainge trades us Rondo, KHump, Bogans, Presley for Asik/Lin/TJones/Brewer/Smith then the net cost for Asik and Lin for Boston next season is a little over $10 million per player. So, if Boston could move out Green for another pick and not take on more salary, then he could practically offset the entire cost of Asik and Lin. And in more simplistic terms, Boston could probably waive Joel Anthony, get Anthony to waive his player option for next season and let us sign him for our Room MLE. This would knock the net cost of Asik and Lin down to about $8.5 million each for Boston next season. That would be very reasonable.
Last year we made the deal for TRob one day before trade deadline, do you think that IF rockets make a minor or major trade will be before the game ?
Rockets locking for a 1st round pick for Asik from Philly. Boston looking for 2 first round picks for Rondo. Maybe it is true?
I would assume if a big trade is coming we will hear something today..Atleast a rumor from big time source or something.. This trades take time to materilize, therefore we might here something today and might happen tomorrow.. Just a guess
Doubt it. We probably won't even make a minor trade until we know if a Rondo trade (or possibly another blockbuster type trade) goes through. Which I don't think will go down until tomorrow.
No one. Pretty sure that if Morey's office ever leaks the perpetrator will be tracked down, tarred and feathered, drawn and quartered and then fired. No one ever saw the deals for Harden, PPat or MM coming. Howard? Any half way perceptive individual could see that the Rockets were Dwight's obvious choice. This thread is filled with opium dreams and stranger things.
big drop off from vet min. contract guys (brewer, Garcia) having to start. than having a solid combo guard who has experience running a team before and knows the rockets system well (lin), having to start.
The media will report, but don't expect to hear them talk about Houston as a possible landing spot. Only that "Lin and asik are not desired trade pieces"
