[CBS] Lakers, Mavericks maneuvering for Kevin Love

I hate to say it ,but LA is and always be a hot destination . Love is from the West coast and played college ball at UCLA.

 

The trade would likely be a draft day trade at which point the Lakers could trade their 2014 pick.

 

If it's a draft day trade then Gasol is no longer an expiring contract, so how do they make the $$ match?

LA can't trade the 2014 pick. The writer dropped the ball.

Umm... this is a fluff piece. The top 6 picks in the 2014 draft are too valuable, far more than Kevin Love. Love is a stats guy. The Lakers wouldn't consider trading the pick until the draft order is determined and they've been able to put everything into tanking this season. Dallas is desperate as usual.

Don't know why people on here are so willing to give up on this season just for the hopes of the small possibility we get him.

 

I'm unsure of the dollars working. I was under the impression that since the Lakers would be under the cap they could take on Love's contract while sending out other players but I haven't really looked at it and I don't remember what the rule is so I could be completely wrong.

The Lakers actually can trade their 2014 first round pick if they can acquire another 2014 first round pick from another team.

 

Then the Lakers will have to get another 2014 first round pick so they can trade their own.

Wth is Cuban's problem. He is a smart guy. However why would Love or any top free agent want to be in Dallas? The team is only slightly above average and the city is below elite status. Every two years with this mess.

 

Look past your hate for the Mavs and you should be able to clearly see adding their name to this article was nothing more then a click bait technique. The mavs have no assets to offer for Love. So they are not setting their self up for heartbreak because they are not really trying to get him. The writer just knows that the Lakers are and that love wants to go there. He just inserted another team to drive more clicks to the article. Strange you cant see that.

 

And Houston is elite status?

 

We don't need Kevin Love. I'd rather keep Parsons and add a collective group of solid role players that can put superstar numbers up on any given night

 

I'm not sure on this. I think he remains on the cap until the league year officially ends, which would be after the draft. So the cap room wouldn't exist. IDK.

Which is nothing in making a deal for Kevin Love. The T-Wolves aren't looking for Cap Space in return for letting their star player go.

 

The Wolves will be the most concerned about the draft pick and not Gasol. Maneuvering involving 3rd teams could result in the Lakers getting a late first round pick.

You can bet Morey was one of them. Still as others stated you can't risk this season and next on the off chance you might be able to aquire Love.

Morey will make his move on Thursday.
