Console Wars Thread! PS4 vs. Xbox One vs. Wii U Fight!

MS can't just buy exclusives anymore, game development costs are too high and it would not be worth it to purchase exclusive franchises because the asking price is too much. Publishers are not going to forego sales on PS4 unless they get a really good offer from Microsoft.

 

EA lost a couple hundred millions around BF4. I can understand why they decided to sell some exclusive rights.

 

And those uses are all totally valid, and I don't take issue with them. I think it's pretty cool as a menu navigation/UI device. But my point is that the examples you've given are novelties/gimmicks. I don't see those things as "the future of gaming."

And I don't necessarily recall if you specifically have been saying those types of things, but I know Svpernaut and Mr.Scarface are making broad statements like "the Kinect is the future" and "MS knows EXACTLY what it's doing (with the Kinect)" without any convincing argument for why that's the case.

It's as you say: "The kinect doesn't have to be game changing to be acceptable." Very true. It's an interesting, novelty device with applications on the periphery of gaming. But I haven't seen anything that makes me think it's going to change the gaming landscape. I live in hope that someday I'll be proven wrong, and they'll find lots of great gaming uses for it.

The developers had no problem getting 1080p/60FPS on the same games for PS4. It must be their fault though, not the system.

And the Xbox is a glorified PC (same can be said for the PS4) at this point with a custom interface. But I guess they're just too stupid to figure it out.

 

The one with Titanfall on it wins.

 

We should just stop debating this, because that's how Xbox people are.

Braid was exclusive, then it wasn't. Same for Limbo. Same for Castle Crashers. Same for Eternal Sonata.

Tales of Vesperia even got an enhanced PS3 port in Japan, and they were in the middle or recording more English dialogue to do a NA PS3 Tales of Vesperia, when another payment from MS presumably arrived which stopped the localization. But from what I've seen, MS is past doing things like this. I can't think of another example since they did it with Vesperia.

Fable can be had on PC. So can Titanfall. So can Left 4 Dead.

So off the top of my head, that leaves Dead Rising, Forza, Halo, and Gears of War as the major platform exclusives. Gran Turismo and Forza pretty much cancel each other out. And as a guy who's pretty burnt out on arcadey shooters... I just don't care about the two shooters. Dead Rising is the only big-hitter exclusive I can think of that I'm pretty interested in, though not a system-seller by itself. Add Crimson Dragon as a potentially fun niche game.

But even then... you know what? Wouldn't shock me if one or both of them made it to PS4 eventually. Dead Rising 2 was on PS3 & PC, after all.

Um, okay. Two multiplat games, NBA 2K and FIFA, are running at 1080p and 60 fps on both systems, if I recall correctly.

I would think that if EA, Visual Concept, and Turn 10 (Forza) are able to churn out these "achievements" of 1080p and 60 fps, then surely the developers are responsible for that, no?

The PS4 makes it easier to achieve these benchmarks due to it's hardware, but that really has nothing to do with the XBO and it's ability to hit those numbers (not talking about lighting, etc...).

Just focus on killing those bots on Titanfall and then claiming that the game is too easy, lol.

 

Im with you...the things Ive mentioned are nice additions that I have grown accustomed to using. It's not earth shattering, just adds some convenience to my gaming routine. Im still in the boat of hoping something great happens with it because it's got a ways to go before that happens. I think the potential is there, but it'll be a few years before we even see anything game changing about it, if ever.

Tax write-off. They're cooking the books to make it look like they lost money on one of their best selling franchises. I don't believe it cost anywhere near what they claim. Many coronations do it. They make money and receive money from the government at the end of the year.

Ding. Ding. Ding. That's why when M$ gets one mediocre exclusive (Titanfall) it is hyped 24/7 until a month after the release when everyone gets bored of it and starts complaining about it, saying it sucks.

Yeah, they're tearing it up in Japan and in the US. Will Titanfall be the savior Xbox fanboys need? Called it, right on time too. :grin:

It's not hard to move right once. I think you can make it second. I could easily press the D-Pad 3-4x and X before you say "Go to Netflix"

Just you. Mine works great. Get faster internet or maybe you need a better router. Try moving closer to your router (a few feet can be the difference) and make sure there is nothing surrounding your PS4 or router.

That's true, but if people knew how to setup their cable boxes (mostly Comcast making it impossible) then they would and they'd see the difference. I prefer headphones over all of those wires (and the $200-$300 price tag). I can pay $25 for really good ear buds I can use in the gym and as a mic on my PS4.

 

I also get frame rate stutters in the Netflix PS4 app.

 

Who do you mean also? The other guy just said it wasn't his PS4. You on the other hand just said the one with Titanfall wins. I think you're lying and that's sad.

 

I finally got around to installing Titanfall yesterday on PC and it's pretty lame. I was surprised by the potential of it while running through the tutorial, but EA botched the multi-player (there is no single player which is fine for me I didn't plan on touching it). If you like running around and owning mostly middle and high schoolers without any strategy involved then feel free to buy it if that's your thing. I prefer playing chess with someone on my level.

I don't even think I will play it today and it's the last day for the beta. Already turned off by the game.
