Shump would be an awesome get. He is a good player who is overshadowed by two chuckers. His defense is still improving as he came back quick from an ACL surgery. It usually takes a year and a half to get back to normal so expect him to start getting better and better defensively. I am not too sure how good of a shooter he is, but he seems almost automatic out of the corner.

Maybe 3 years ago. KG is like 105 years old.

Why are people paying so much attention to some BS fantasy piece from Latino Post or whatever the hell it is? There is no mention from any legitimate reporters (Woj, Stein, etc. ) that this Tyson Chandler thing is even being considered and the deal makes no sense anyway.

Because CH, we're all dying for some information leading up to the trade deadline. Any little scraps are blown out of proportion / put under the microscope because of this time of year.

We all know there are upgrades needed. We all know that Asik wants/wanted out. And, we all want to have a team that is a legitimate contender ASAP. Let the fans speculate, it's fun!

This is not even information. It is crap.

I'd take stuff from Woj, Stein, Berger, Amick, even Feigen and other local beat writers. But fantasy crap is not really worth anything.

It may be crap. The thread does say 'Rumors', I'd say this classifies as a rumor.

The alternative is we ignore anything that isn't solid and there is less traffic on the site. I personally like the speculation.

May be a bit surprising but KG is the best defender on the Nets. Playing 21 minutes per game and 7th in total minutes Would be great for toughness off the bench.

KG off the bench would be great for us. His versatility is much more useful than Asik and he can actually play alongside Howard. This would be key in the playoffs if Dmo and TJones are ineffective

I would much rather Morey keep Asik at this point rather than trading him during the deadline. I feel like Asik has a lot more to offer to help solidify the bench. As we've seen time-and-time again this year, the bench suffers to maintain rebounding and defense once Howard goes out. Asik can really help in this department.

I think Morey would have better luck trading Lin at this year's deadline.

For a trade that involved Chandler to Houston for Lin/Asik, the Knicks would have to sell Melo on the idea of Asik and Lin being a better fit alongside him because of youth, and a skill level upgrade at the point while not suffering a drop-off at center. I think it's a very clear case, but Melo would have a hard time accepting a trade of an all-star who has a ring for 2 relatively unproven young guys. Melo helped create the current situation in NY by not strongly supporting re-signing Lin and embracing veteran players over youth. It backfired badly. What Melo really wanted was for Amare to be that second superstar. It didn't happen because Stoudemire's body failed him (a tragedy as he was one of my favorite players). What Melo really wants from Knicks management is an understanding of how they land players like Rondo, Lebron and stars at that level. Otherwise, he could go to Chicago and have a better coach and supporting cast to work with.

Can they trade their '15 first? They sent their '14 & '16 to Denver. I thought a team couldn't trade away consecutive 1st. IIRC they couldn't trade their '15 first until after the '14 draft? Somebody please correct me because I'd like to know this as well?

They can't. If it weren't for ole Ted Stepien the New York teams would have no draft picks left.

One of the things I love most about the nba trade deadline and times when trades are likely to happen is to see how value and leverage are found. Morey has done well at taking advantage of other teams problems which produces leverage. Dolan is in a pickle. He has to push hard one way or the other. If he doesn't think he can put the pieces around Melo this deadline to satisfy him, then he should just go all in and trade Melo for what he can get. However if he really does think he can convince him to stay he needs to put the best pieces he can in place with the few assets he has left.

Leverage....if it makes sense for Morey and the few assets the Knicks have left are appealing to him....take him to the cleaners....again.
