    Why not?

Asik + TJones could get you Millsap
Lin + DMO + Picks + whatever assets Boston want for Rondo

I know it'll be tough to get Rondo without giving up Parsons but if anyone can do it Morey can. Ainge is a tough cookie though

    Hope for the best!

Once again...throwing realism to the wind. Maybe on NBA 2K14, friend...

Doubt this is happening folks. Any Rockets' picks would be too low (definitely not lottery), and why would they take Lin and Asik? That would probably turn them into the East version of the mediocre Rockets teams from before the Harden trade (albiet, probably getting at least a lower seed in the pathetic East). They would be sabotaging their own draft pick.

Then again, they do have A LOT of draft picks already and could probably use Rockets' picks packaged with their own to move up the board. Also, the Celtics are low enough this year to get a good pick in 2014 at least. EHHH I DON'T KNOW!

Damn, Ainge thinks too highly of Parsons, in my opinion. Probably thinking about a new age Bird or something :p

Yeah, no joke, man. I bet the rest of the league is seriously jealous of the flexibility both teams have.

    Us:
"We'd like to do a deal, but we don't have to."

    Them:
"It's Rondo. We know you want him, just give us your best offer."

Rondo probably will not happen. Boston is well-managed, and will not cave in; other teams are poorly managed, and so they will cave in. Same goes for Houston: too well-managed, will not cave in.

In other words, somebody out there will give Boston more for Rondo tvan what Houston is offering, and somebody out there will give Houston more for Asik-Lin-Motiejunas than what Boston is offering.

However, the two parties are using each other, to create leverage. Party X does not improve on its bid if there is no Party Y out there, making its own bid. You need at least two teams competing with each other, so as to drive up the price. Supply and demand.

The key here is that it appears Daryl Morey has found homes for Lin and Asik. Now it is a matter of getting the best asset or assets for Lin and Asik (and probably Motiejunas). Keep in mind that the trade will almost certainly involve at least three teams. We know that New York is desperately trying to placate Carmelo Anthony and the fan base, and we know that Phoenix is offering Emeka Okafor's big expiring contract with a late 2014 first round pick and/or Miles Plumlee for a big upgrade at C (presumably either Omer Asik or Tyson Chandler). So you can see the basic outline of a large multi-team deal here. Just try to look at things objectively, rather than as a biased fan of a particular team, and it's right there, in plain view.

True, there are exceptions to the rule.

They probably don't have interest in our firsts over the next couple of years. Deep futures like 8 years down the line is probably what they'll want from us and that is too risky.

I doubt they are dumb enough to trade Rondo for picks in the 20s

another interesting factor is that it doesn't appear as though any eastern teams are buying in for rondo. so, BOS doesnt have to worry about facing Rondo in later years.

it may have helped if houston were only going up against 2 or 3 other eastern teams, but all of the other buyers are western teams.

NY may be a buyer, but they dont have anything serious to offer, so i'm not including them.

true, but all buyers (sans lakers) are going to be in our position, where they're offering non-lottery picks.

morey's selling point would be, to my best guess, that BOS should package these picks to move up...and hell, 3 late 1sts is fine by me. we have enough young talent to develop without those picks, and I'm confident in Morey's ability to find talent

lol, now knicks are trying to get Rondo to their dysfunctional team.

Cant offer consecutive 1st round picks. So it would have to be 2032 and 2034

That's actually believable. Lebron wouldn't mind coming off the bench because he probably wants to win the 6th man of the year award too. He wants to win everything at least once.
