It's hard to believe that Rondo is the final piece to the puzzle. I admit I am not well versed in the CBA, but I would be surprised if it was a "zero" chance of getting a big 4. No doubt, it would require some compromises and put us into the luxuary tax. Here are their contract standing for 2016-2017: Rajon Rondo : UFA –Summer 2015 (He will be 30 in 2016) James Harden: 2016-2017 ==> 17M, (He will be 27) Dwight Howard: 2016-2017 ==> Player Option (He will be 31) Kevin Durant: 2016-2017 ==> UFA (He will be 28) If James and Dwight compromised for something less than Max like 17M starting (with player options and longer contracts) and Rondo accept something that was much lower, like 13M, and did a longer contract with player options also. Then allow Kevin Durant to sign for Max--since this would be his team at that point. This would be 17M + 17M + 13M + 20M = 67M with the big 4. Again, I apologize in advance for not being aware of the CBA impact of cap hit and such in the following years with increases in salary with these contracts. No doubt, it's a low probability, but they may make up the difference in salary loss by the additional endorsements from the constant media attention. Not to mention the comradery and team chemistry.
I don't know that they couldn't have, but certainly not while running out a 2k style lineup. This team won't go anywhere with Harden or Parsons running the 4. A Rondo, Bev, Harden, Parsons, Howard lineup would be just tragic. However, I have faith that Morey is smart enough to know this as well. The Rondo BS is just blowing smoke.
If they don't fit their plans I don't see what parsons does, he will get paid proberbly this summer and if Boston still has all of their crappy contratcs then it could be rather hard to resign him. Must be tjones I guess

danny is not going to take both of those contracts they wil want picks and a young player on small contract. morey will have to find 3rd team to get his 2nd pick. Im sure this is the only hold up. If parsons was included the deal would be done already for one 1st
I'm guessing Lin doesn't interest the Celtics. Is it something more like Asik, Parsons, Bev and DMo? That deal works in the trade machine.
So the guys we want to trade don't fit what Boston is trying to do, and the guy Boston is trying to trade doesn't fit what we are trying to do. Sounds like a perfect match.
Asik would. Just because he isn't a draft pick or two now, doesn't mean that he can't be traded for them in offseason. If Rockets were to go after Rondo with intent on keeping him, I suspect they would just trade Lin and a bunch of draft picks (which may need other players like DMo sent to other teams to get these picks).
I agree......Straight up.I honestly think Asik and late 1rst is enough.Would love to get Onlyk included for the back-up center spot.
This makes a lot of sense. Just don't know if those two draft picks will be high enough for Ainge. If we could somehow get Milwaukee to send maybe a top 8 or top 10 protected pick in exchange for taking Ilyasova's contract, that might make some sense as part of a package to Boston.
good point abt returning the favor for KG. but its a business, id take the kings deal over ours any day. rondo resigning w/kings could be an issue however.
Well, if you're saying Boston is trying to tank, they can still make that happen. And if Lin and Asik don't fit into their plans then for sure Rondo doesn't either.
