I don't think its marginal. Imagine if this team as currently constructed could get the ball to Howard with ease. All of a sudden, Dwight is better, the perimeter opens up, and you have a legitimate weapon against the best PG's in the league. I was never a huge fan, but the possibilities are there. What makes me nervous about Rondo is his health. Ive been saying this for awhile, PG's are becoming the running backs of the NBA, they're the smallest player on the court and the really good PG's take a lot of contact/hits each game.
If getting Rondo means James doesn't have to control and run the offense all the time, then I'll be all for it. James doesn't have to do this now with Lin and Bev but it's obvious he doesn't trust them completely and maybe getting someone better than him at distributing will allow him to become primarily a finisher. A role where he is the most dangerous. I'm not saying James can't create every once in a while. Passing is what makes James very special but I worry about how taxing it is for him to be our primary creator and perimeter scorer. It's not sustainable for this year or the rest of James' career. Especially if your planning on long playoff runs with him as we all hope for. If he continues trying to be the #1 passer and #1 scorer, he is going to wear down and fast.
Didn't you ask cyberx earlier in this thread and he said Lowry hates McHale? I'm sure Morey's not above firing coaches to accomadate a star, but Kyle Lowry? Also, any reason why Rondo would stay in Toronto beyond 2015?
Honestly, first rounders have gone from being under valued a couple years ago (you could literally buy one) to being insanely over valued. If the Rockets can get Rondo for 2 firsts and Asik or Lin, you do it in a heart beat. The likely hood is the Rockets will draft in the late 20's and I find it hard to believe they will be as good as Rondo. Howard/Jones/Parsons/Harden/Rondo... You cannot do much better than that.
Lowry butted heads with every head coach plus a summer pickup game referee. We don't need them to love each other, we just need them to be functional. And even back then Lowry functioned really well for the team until he got injured.
I'm pretty sure most of the drama appeared when Lowry came back from his injury and his staring spot wasn't their for him anymore, with Dragic playing amazing. I think of Lowry came here as the clearest starter, as he will be, then there will be little to no problem.
If these big trades go through, we can end up with 4 allstars, wow I can't imagine a scenario that doesn't involve trading all 4 of Asik, Lin, Parsons, and Jones, Rockets' 2014 first round pick, and NYK's 2014 2nd round pick C-Howard / Greg Smith PF-Millsap / Dmo SF- Garcia / Casspi / Covington SG - Harden / Brooks / Brewer PG-Rondo / Beverley / Canaan I imagine that we can sign Camby back, but the SF and bench seem very thin.
I rather the risk of attitude with lowry than have rondo. My biggest things about rondo is he can't shoot the 3 (and we love to shoot 3's and out offense is good at penetrating so he would get a lot of open looks) and the fact that he is coming off an injury. So we don't exactly know if we'll get the old rondo. So unless we can do a direct swap or Lin or asik, im kinda against the idea now.
Anyway we could stop separating people by race/color/sexuality. It's 2014 anyday now would be nice, lol.
O no..If this happenes..it'll be like loosing carl Landry all over again.. I don't think my heart can take it..
I don't think 1sts are overvalued. (1) It's really the only way you can ever get a superstar. For most cities outside of NY and LA, anyway. And especially a home-grown franchise player, rather than free agent. (2) You get a kid on a rookie scale, and lock him in for what, 7 years? at relatively cheap labor. (3) Draft picks are the coin of trades. You can flip them, e.g. Harden.
Is Ilyasova's contract considered bad or at least hard to move? That is, it'd be one of the few situations where the Rockets can ask for a sweetener if they dealt Lin? + Houston's 2014 1st round pick & Knicks' 2014 2nd round pick to Boston It would be a ballsy move by Morey as both haven't been fully healthy this season. Adding to this is the controversy surrounding Ilyasova's age and identity. That he is really the 3 year older Arsen Ilyasov.
you DO know parsons makes under 1 mill per year right? how can 2 star players be had fora salary that low + lin or asik?
Any reason why Lowry would start for the Rockets over Beverley? Mind you, Morey himself has said that he liked Lowry more when he was a backup that came in and caused havoc. No reason to think he's somehow a better fit now as a starter. All the issues that existed to make Lowry pissed 2 years ago still exit today. And he's due to make a crapload of money in the offseason. Morey doesn't seem like the type of person who would gamble the Rockets championship hopes for the next 4 years on Kyle Lowry of all people.
This is incorrect unless you have a top-5 pick or REALLY, REALLY lucky. The odds of a pick turning into a star once you're out of the top-5 range is low. The odds after top-10 is nearly impossible. Also, rookie scale is 4 years, not 7. So yes, 1st rounders are overrated these days.
