I hear you and I think every team has a different make up and personality and needs different things. Don't get me wrong. I'm not encouraging fighting or bone head plays, but I'll take a little bad if it brings the good. Right now, the Rockets have just one player with a "won't back down" mentality in my view and that's Pat Beverly. (Yes, Garcia has his death stare but his game isn't backing it up unfortunately.) I want someone with the ball in their hands when the game is on the line that I can count on to get the Rockets a good shot or to get a key stop on the defensive end. I also think the Rockets are made up of nice guys. I really like that, but if you are going to have a team full of nice guys that aren't exuding competitive fire 24/7 then sometimes you need 1-2 guys to be that spark and lead the way when your other guys lose their confidence. Whose going to battle Chris Paul and Russel Westbrook in the playoffs and what is going to happen when the Heat turn up the defensive pressure in the finals on frequent turnover players like Lin and Harden. Are they going to play soft or respond with aggression and vocal leadership? I just don't see it right now from the current player mix and I think it is a major shortcoming on this team - more than any X's and O's. I think a Rondo trade goes a long way to addressing this shortfall.
The report really should have been Morey is active this week leading up to the trade deadline, and has heavy interest in Rajon Rondo. Anything more is likely to be wrong in the end because most talks 72 hours away from the deadline change until the final hours of the deadline anyways. Lots of Horse Trading as well.
Great post. Rep'd. Like many, I have mixed feelings if Parsons is involved, but if the opportunity is there to get a game changer like Rondo, then you have to do it.
1/16/12 Westbrook 26pts, Rondo 12pts 3/12/12 Paul 14pts, Rondo 12pts 4/4/12 Parker 10pts, Rondo 17pts 11/21/12 Parker 26pts, Rondo 22pts 11/23/12 Westbrook 26pts, Rondo 6pts 12/15/12 Parker 22pts, Rondo 6pts 12/27/12 Paul 8pts, Rondo 10pts 1/9/13 Dragic 12pts, Rondo 8pts 1/14/14 Jackson 14pts, Rondo 5pts 2/12/14 Joseph 11pts, Mills 16pts, Rondo 16pts Don't think Rondo has played against Lillard yet and no Curry since 2011-12. No doubt Rondo had a great impact on the offensive end as a floor general, but his defensive impact hasn't been as big as expected in recent years. year=team DefRtg=Rondo DefRtg = (+/-) *negative # is better. 2006 104.5 = 100.5 = (-4.0) *started 25 games 2007 96.2 = 96.1 = (-0.1) *Championship* 2008 99.4 = 99.7 = (+0.3) 2009 101.1 = 100.9 = (-0.2) 2010 97.8 = 98.7 = (+0.9) 2011 95.5 = 96.4 = (+0.9) 2012 100.4 = 100.5 = (+0.1) *38 games 2013 103.2 = 109.0 = (+5.8) *10 games for comparison 2012 103.5 = 104.0 = (+0.5) Lin 2012 103.5 = 104.4 = (+0.9) Harden 2012 103.6 = 104.7 = (+1.1) Bryant 2012 102.6 = 103.8 = (+1.2) Curry 2012 101.0 = 103.3 = (+2.3) Paul *really bad defensive starting unit and great defensive bench. 2012 99.2 = 97.6 = (-1.6) Parker *great defensive team. The dude is coming off of a major injury and can't shoot. Morey would be full r****d if he gambled parsons away.
This. Kyle being an infinitely better shooter than Rondo is so much more important to this team than Rondo's marginal advantage as a playmaker
The weird thing here is Ilyasova. I don't doubt the Rockets want him. But it's impossible for him to come "cheap." Lin or Asik has to go Milwaukee for this to happen. And while I'm not a huge fan of Lin, I do think he's certainly better than Ilyasova. Unless the Bucks are adding in other players, I can't see him coming here. But I guess that's possible. Also he's signed through 2016, which takes us out of 2015 FA unless we salary dump him. That should cost a 1st round pick that we need to get from the Bucks. Boston requiring a 3rd team makes sense. It would work better if we could get a prospect and/or pick from a 3rd team for Asik, then package that with Jones and our own pick(s) to get Rondo. And there's no one I really care for in NY except Melo. But the Knicks aren't trading him.
I'd rather lose with Chandler "White Lebron" Parsons than win with Rondo. P.S. - They should give an annual "White Lebron James Prize" to best white player in the league. (I'm certain Carl Herrera has beaten me to this suggestion somewhere in the archives...). 1. Kevin Love 2. Dirk 3. Chandler Needless to say, Lin would win every "Asian Lebron James Prize", by default.
