I'm a Celtics fan and just want to chime in with my views on Rondo.
Like some other players returning from acl injury he seemed rusty at first and Stevens called it "his pre season" but he is getting back into the swing of things after a slow start. Coach Brad Stevens and others have said that Rondo has worked very hard on his 3 point shot. And the results are starting to really show. No guarantee Rondo would be a very good 3 point shooter with the Rockets but don't dismiss him knocking down 3' as a spot up 3 point shooter. Rondo improved his spot up 2 point shooting a lot from the elbow the last season or two but it makes more sense for him to focus on the 3. Supposedly when he was out with the ACL he really worked hard on adding the 3. So it is pretty much a guarantee that he has improved as a 3 point shooter but just a question of how much. Last few game he has been hitting spot up 3's really well.

What Rondo mostly like won't be able to do is to grow into a scoring PG that hits shots from the perimeter with a man in his face. Given the Rockets team and other strengths of Rondo's game, I don't think that is needed. 3's, short uncontested 2's and drives to the baskets will be the shots that you want him taking.

Sitting out a year and having a new coach in Brad Stevens has been good for Rondo. Seems more mature and diversifying his game a bit as well and has played "off the ball" more and even posted up at times.

Now that he is developing into much more of a 3 point threat, the ball handling can be mixed up much more with Harden.

Rondo's explosiveness isn't 100% back and perhaps its never 100% back even after he ditches the knee brace next year but he is already right now good enough to really help out the rockets. And I think he will get even better. Perhaps the only thing keeping Rondo from being a bit more explosive right now is he must know the Celtics games are meaningless right now and its just about him and other players adding new skills.

Rondo also has super long arms/hands so he is capable of giving the other top notch PG's bad games when he is focused. When tired like he was at the end of one recent game, he can get blown by(Calderon) but I wouldn't be concerned about that in the post season. Given his long arms, he is tough to shoot over and can even guard shooting guards at times.

He can be that "third star" and sometimes even more then that. Celtics need a #1 and #2 stars and Ainge is probably reluctant to pay Rondo big money without any guarantee that the other stars will come first.

Less confident that his free throws have gotten much better then I am of his 3's but as he takes more 3's, his free throws won't be much of a concern. He has been a bad free throw shooter but never so bad that smart teams would hack him on purpose.

Rondo has 18 triple doubles. 2nd on active player list only to Lebron. I'd say that's a star-like statistic.;)

Lets just say that the Celtics want Parsons included in the deal and the Rockets are balking...Way to do Parson real dirty...imho...then again, winning a title requires some heart break...

Im leaning to think that the Rockets were considering trading Asik and Beverly for Rondo

Having Rondo, Beverly, Lin and ABrooks...makes no sense at all...

Winner, winner, chicken dinner! Parsons likely gets moved this offseason, for this reason. Parsons wants to get paid, and Morey doesn't want to cough up the $50+ mil that is going to cost. I project Parsons gets swapped shortly before the 2014 draft for a mid- to late-lottery pick.

Teams that WORRY about money - are teams that ARE NOT GOING TO BE WINNING a championship any time soon.

Pay Parsons, he is NOT replaceable, outside of Lebron and Durant, Parsons is on the next level...you don't get rid of talent, you keep it.

Do NOT include bev... 48 mins of elite defense from pg & c would go along way.

    Lin + donuts + 2014 1st rounder

I never liked rondo but his playmaking abilities would overcome Mchale lack of coaching and take the ball out of Harden's hands for his own good.

I'm 42 years old, and while I understand the business side of the NBA, I think trading a young up and coming Parsons for an older coming off injury Rondo is a bad deal for the Rockets.

This coming from the guy that said Harden would be exposed as a role player on the Rockets when the Rockets traded for him.

Honestly if Morey threw in two first rounders with Lin or Asik and DMo the Celtics might bite.

The you would still have Jones and Asik/Lin for another upgrade.

I love how ppl are hating hating on cyberx just bc they don't like the news he is so graciously reporting. I for am grateful, thanks cyberx. On a rated note, I too am all for trading 2 1st Rd picks for rondo and somehow unloading one of the poison pills. The general consensus seems to be that we wouldn't mi d seeing any1 except for the clippers and thunder in the playoffs. We get rondo, I wouldn't mind facing the clips or okc. Thoughts?

Doubt it will happen. This is purely just speculation right? By a member?

I'm mixed on my feelings about Rondo, but just as a fan of the NBA, Celtics might be a bit more interesting.

What are they, about 5 games out of the 8th spot?
Parsons or Lin, could try and take that team on a run. :p

    Rajon Rondo DOB 02/22/1986
    Chandler Parsons DOB 10/25/1988

Two and a half years. Not a huge difference, really.

As I pointed out recently, players rarely continue to improve after about age 24. Parsons is likely as good as he's going to get. I doubt Parsons' numbers this year are any better than they were last year. Good player but not exactly a future star or whatever.

That would be the perfect place for Lin. He can have the ball in his hand. And Rondo is the perfect Point Guard for Houston. Pass first. I can see the chemistry with Dwight and him. Win win situation for both teams!!!!
