We can start with Demarcus Cousins who is averaging just under Harden with 22.5 PPG but he's also averaging 11.7 RPG and has a PER of 26.15 which is top 5 in the league I believe. There's also DeAndre Jordan who is leading the league in rebounds (14RPG) and FG% and is #4 in blocks. On top of which, DeAndre is a highlight reel that would have made the game more exciting. Third guy I think would have made this a better all star game is Goran Dragic. It seemed the West this season had a lack of ball handlers even though there were so many point guards. Steph Curry is really a SG that handles the ball, much like Harden. Dragic would have resulted in less turnovers and more plays for dunks for the West.
I'm not the only one that thought Harden, Dirk, and Tony Parker were the top duds of the all star game. One overrated star and two over the hill duds screwed the West over and Blake Griffin's Kia MVP award. I'm sure KIA is upset at these guys too as they probably had a commercial lined up for Griffins Kia MVP. http://espn.go.com/nba/allstar2014/story/_/page/scorecard-west/west-grades-nba-all-star-game-2014
You didn't honestly just say Deandre Jordan was more deserving of an all star spot than James Harden, right?
Why not? There would have been more highlight dunks in the game. Is DeAndre not leading the lead in boards and FG%? What is James Harden leading the league in? Turnovers?
I have lots of friends who aren't Rockets fans who respect his game and don't feel this way at all. A lot of you really enjoy pushing this notion, though.
Blake Griffin shot 83% from the field at the All Star game today. I know a lot of you are big on efficiency stats. Please give me the stats you can dig up that point at Griffin as being just a hack player. I want to hear them because it's interesting to me.
You are probably the most passive aggressive poster there is when it comes to Harden. Not even kidding. It's either "I never criticize Harden but he is terrible" or "Yes Harden is clutch but he takes 70% of Rockets' 4th quarter shots and that's how he scores his clutch points". Now we have the "People think Harden is terrible, I'm not agreeing though but that's what everyone thinks about him".
Harden would have been a reserve if Kobe could play. Harden is an Allstar. You could argue if he has a chance to be the AS MVP with Bron, Melo and Durant taking shots and hogging the ball for years to come. Irving is a show man. I don't think he scores that much day in and day out with the Cavaliers.
You know what I want to see since the ASG has gotten complacent? 1 on 1 matchups. Fans vote on who plays who. That would be badass.
lol I can see what youre saying I will discuss any players strengths and weakness it goes for parsons, lin, howard, harden bev even morey as the GM. NOBODYS PERFECT. I’m a good guy to have around because I’m a BIG rockets fan but at the same time I’m not bias either, and watch a lot of basketball not just rockets games & just highlights of other teams and players. You get a more genuine opinion from me vs the homer ones, you can see those all the time, so yeah I may rub some people feathers the wrong way. But its sports talk no one is ever right or wrong and I respect everyone’s opinion . Back to James Harden. James is solid and its good to have on the team way better than kevin martin, james has a more complete game, and competitive nature about him on offense that you can’t teach. One thing is people are quick to say HES THE BEST SHOOTING GUARD IN THE NBA. Well it’s not many good shooting guards that are elite in the NBA, look at the all-star game james, wade “on his last leg” joe Johnson were the only ones there and you can argue joe shouldn’t have been there anyway. James style of play is comparable to point guards for what he does as this team’s main playmaker and primary ball handler since he became a rocket. Now take a look at this list in NO ORDER and its highly debatable on where he falls if put in order on this list. 1.Harden 2.Lillard 3.Westbrook 4.CP3 5.Irving 6.Curry 7.Parker 8.Dragic 9.Rondo 10.Rose 11.Wall
I watched about 60 seconds of the game. That was 60 seconds too much. The NBA all-star game is worse than the Pro Bowl. Just a huge waste of time during the middle of the season. The Players should be embarrassed about the entire weekend.
