I think people use the word "tactical" for games that simply aren't shoot what you see, standard FPSes if you will. Objectives, teamwork, etc. Titanfall has those elements as well in the various gameplay modes. Other than the fact that it is fast-paced I don't see the similarities with CoD personally.
Game is a blast. They gave us just enough of a tease in the beta to show off some of the awesome features. Looking forward to the full game.
Apparently the source code shows that 14 maps are going to be in the final product. Obviously, this isn't confirmed and could change - but it shows that they should have some nice variety in the final package.
I finally got to play it for a couple hours. Really fun game. smooth mechanics/control is really impressive. surprisingly innovative in terms of gameplay technically for a beta. love the high speed pace. the only complaints are the AI, I hope there is gonna be a hardcore mode without them. Also the auto pistol needs to go and hopefully there would be bigger maps in the full game. overall a great and fun game for the PC
LOL....the only people, for the most part, saying "it's just COD" are from that OTHER gaming system. They are already posting "Where is OUR Titanfall killer?"
If you have applied for access on PC previously, check your game library you should now have access. The game is more or less open beta now and will be fully open in the next day or so.
Just played about 20 minutes (2.5 rounds, WTF) Don't see the hype. Shooting feels like Call of Duty. Parkouring reminds me of Assassin's Creed. Jetpacks was more of Global Agenda mode and less Tribes mode. Maps are small as ****. I can see why people say getting around is fast because you barely have anywhere to move around to! I spent half my time shooting the minions than I did other players. Otherwise, it's just running around shooting **** then shooting mech ****. Action is fast, I'll give it that, but the appeal just wore off for me since I was accustomed with Planet Side 2 and Tribes as of late and just didn't feel that much different than those games. For $60 though? Pass. The free-to-play game Loadout was equally as fluid movement-wise minus the parkour and mechs. I think I had more fun playing that than Titanfall to be honest.

Nice find. Now I don't have to carry my Xbox One with me this week. Downloading now... Spoiler You do realize this is a beta right? They are stress-testing the game and servers. There are many more game modes and maps in the final product.
This game ticked me off. I'm assuming at least part of the reason I was sucking is because as you gain experience and level up...you open up new titans and pilots which are better equipped? I was a total noob and I noticed I'm lumped in with experienced people in the teen levels. I played like 8 games and got one titan and one pilot kill but a lot of assists. Is there a secret as to where you are supposed to shoot at titans. I thought the red highlighted area was where you want to hit akin to a head shot. I dunno but if it seems that hard to me to get kills...then I'm going to quickly lose interest in this game. It just felt like a bunch of FPS mayhem almost akin to button mashing. I guess the strategy part of it is to stay with your team titans and gang up on em...which is what I was doing. I guess it helps if the rest of your team doesn't suck because, eventually, I noticed I was the only one left and I was just getting ganged up on. Definitely made me mad. Not sure I like. Mech Warrior games felt better than this game imo. I didn't feel as in tune with the titan as I did the mech. The titan feels clunky in comparison. But, maybe that's just beginner frustration. The primary weapons seem to lack oompf and the whole shield thing as far as timing and when to engage/lay off...I guess those are acquired skills. This game so far just makes me feel my age. It just didn't feel as fun as I was expecting. The fact that they can't even fly is a bummer imo.
LOL....The other gaming system not named Xbox One. I travel a lot and a gaming PC would be a waste of money for me.
Your weapons arent going to be that much worse than people who have leveled up a little. Are you using your primary weapon to shoot the Titans? Because that's not going to do anything. If you switch to your anti-Titan weapon, that'll do the trick, usually after a couple hits (if your teammates are also trying to take him down). Also, make sure you are not just standing in the open...be in a place where you can take cover, reload, and pop back out for another shot. I think you just need to play some more to get the hang of it. Or watch others play and see what they're doing. Youtube is good for that.
Leveling up in shooters is common practice now. I enjoy that aspect of games like CoD and Battlefield because it gives me something to strive for. I can use the various weapons types, classes and builds to unlock items in that same unlock line. With that said, in my experience better unlocks don't make for a better player. A good player gets slightly better, but a sub-par player is still sub-par. As far as it being difficult I'm far from a great console shooter player. I'm more a mouse and keyboard kind of guy - but I did pretty well, much better than Battlefield 4 anyway. What I do when I'm new to a game or map is I strafe around the edge/border of maps so I can't get flanked. I generally get very easy kills as I in-turn, flank other players. Also, killing Titanfall grunts is very easy - and helps you unlock your Titan drop faster. Getting kills with Titans is easy-mode. Just keep strafing. I've found that if I run from other Titans, I can do far more damage than if I choose to fight a Titan. Titans generally bring crowds, so your shield is easily dropped with 2-3 enemies focusing on you. I'd suggest playing through the tutorials again if you're having trouble, and as you learn - stay indoors. This game allows for skilled players to easily out-maneuver you with wall running, double jumps, strafes, etc. Either stay indoors, or get to high ground. I didn't stick with teammates, and did pretty damn well. I bought an Alienware laptop from dell.com/outlet using a 20% off coupon code from the @DellOutlet twitter account last year. Best $800 investment I ever made for my gaming, since I travel Monday-Friday most weeks.
Isn't the anti-Titan weapon only applicable to pilots not piloting Titans but running around? I thought the Titans only had the primary/secondary weapon? I wasn't doing much outside of a Titan. I'm talking strictly Titan vs Titan battles. It didn't feel like I was doing enough damage even when their shield was down. I had a lot of situations where we were in each other's face...and I did a melee. Does a melee even do anything to another Titan? Is a melee useless if their shield is up? Yea...I'm still trying to figure this one out I guess. It left a lousy first impression on me.
Yes, for pilots on the ground the third weapon is the anti-titan weapon. When in the titan, the throw-back shield and your special ability (rocket burst by default) is your best anti-titan skill.
Oh, didnt realize you were talking Titan vs. Titan. Shield is huge...so I go with the load out that regenerates the shield quicker. Just have to get the timing right with it. I sometimes catch myself using the shield and Im barely even getting shot at. But those times where you have your shield up while the other Titan is unloading on you...you can do some major damage to them.
