An excellent post as always. But I have to disagree about D-Mo at the 5. He actually is showing a lot of promise as a paint clogging big. But certainly a half committed Asik is better than D-Mo in that department. That said, getting rid of Asik without getting a very competent big would just spell disaster for the Rockets. You can be completely sure that Morey would never do that. He is, after all, not stupid.

DMo definitely has gotten better, but for this season and in the playoffs I don't want to count on him. Whereas Asik has had solid playoff experience and performed very well in the playoffs.

That's the thing about a trade. Morey wants a good center back. He also would want a perimeter defender that can shoot. There's simply no fit unless you have a 3-way trade, which is hard to pull of off. I have to say we're not trading Asik. If he can't get value back in December, he's not getting value now. His defense apparently just isn't juicy enough to get other GMs interested.

I have to say a few things to some of you arm chair GM's. If you do not understand the basics of NBA roster construction you should not be positing your ideas here. If you cannot comprehend statistical arguments and thus cannot figure out that the Rockets are a much much better team with Asik than without him you should not be preening your ignorance on CF. If you cannot comprehend the idea of a content and happy locker room is important, and Rondo is realistically a cancer, then you should take a college psychology class. If Rondo clashed with the likes of Pierce and Garnett in Boston what is the likely outcome with him in Houston? If you think that the guard rotation of Bev, Harden and Lin (with AB as the backup) is easily improved upon, you should take a Xanax. And if you have no idea what my point is you should just turn off your computer. Rant over.

Exactly my conclusion. D-Mo projects well into the future, but for now give me Asik every time. In fact I cannot think of an available big that would be better than a half committed Asik. He is that good.

I wonder how much of this was Morey and if McHale had anything to do with it (jtr, refrain from too much McHale-worship here, please).

We certainly know how much he wants Asik back; and he was a huge advocate of Twin Towers, i.e., what we all knew would fail (jtr, refrain from too much McHale-worship here, please).

I wonder if McHale is coaching a game that he knows has evolved even if a part of him doesn't want to conform:

    In today's hoopshype:

    http://www.startribune.com/sports/wolves/245707871.html?page=2&c=y

Ever the old-school power forward, McHale holds out hope that the rise of the stretch-4 forward is only a passing phase.

“The game’s ever evolving, but it’ll get back to that,” McHale said. “They’ll be two big, legitimate 6-11, 265-pound power forwards again who can move their feet a little bit and they’ll beat the hell out of all these guys who like to stretch it out and everybody will go, ‘We need a little bigger guy.’ It comes and it goes.”

I have no idea what you are talking about. You obviously cannot understand why it would be mission critical for the Rockets organization to find out if they could make Asik content with his minutes played? Asik was probably well into the top 10 last season in defensive impact. See dRAPM please. I am not holding your hand on this one. Exactly how important is that to a NBA franchise? Critically. If I remember correctly McHale was the first member of the Rockets organization to voice his doubts that a TT pairing would work. But it had to be explored.

You probably have never been part of the management team of an organization. Trust me, if a star employee is disgruntled, managers do everything in their power to explore options to satisfy that employee. Thus the TT experiment. Hanging that on McHale just shows your lack of experience dealing with people in an organization.

Not usually. But stupidity and lack of insight can take me to the edge. I could have been much much harsher. Trust me on that one.

Arm chair gm'? But wait, you are calling out everyone who doesn't agree with you basically? You aren't a sports gm. I'm sure you probably never even played highschool ball. Sit down.

Statistics don't tell the whole story kiddo. Statistically Kevin Martin put up the same numbers Harden did in OKC as a 6th man. And Harden is twice the player. You seem like an ignorant *******.

Somehow we know that your Tourette's keyboard attacks aren't over.

No one's doubting Asik's talent. At all. But the guy's gonna get 10 mpg? And waste that much capspace? And dog it so much and pout. What, there's no trade in the universe involving Asik that would keep us competitive, maybe even better the team, and shut you the hell up in the process?

Don't know what makes you such a McHale jock-sniffer, but the fumes must really be getting to you. Wrong about so much and so self-righteous to boot.

What back up center is on the market that would be as good or better than Asik? Till you find one, there probably isn't a trade involving Asik that would keep us competitive or better the team. You don't kill your big man depth and get better.

You really need to get a grasp of "If..then" before posting another argument on here.

Actually I did play HS BB on the JV. But I was a white guy who could not jump in a HS with 1000 African-American students. I did not last long.

I fail to see where I am trotting out supporting statistics. In fact I am avoiding them because after a year of my instruction I expect individuals to be able to hold their own in that department. I may refer to them, but if you cannot follow my reasoning because of your own ignorance, it is all on you.

But as for you. Have you proposed a dead line trade yet that does not evoke laughter from the more experienced CF posters? Or are you posting to an ignorant and uninformed audience? I will leave you to answer that question yourself.

Am I an *******? Sure. And proud of it. But you know, I am an ******* who is right. As opposed to you who does not even understand when the argument is well lost.

I personally fail to see how your statement impinges on the validity of my argument.

Everybody views are totally different joker. Your opinion is not better thsn the next man or woman on here. Jtr you don't know if Rondo is a good fit or not. Asik was being an ass himself when we acquired Howard. But life goes on and Asik is getting another chance. Rondo will get a chance to repair his image either in Boston or somewhere else. So cut the nonsense out Bwhahaha
