In retrospect signing Lin over the Dragic for the same money was a huge mistake. At the time, however, I defended dmorey. It's not that Lin was the better player, clearlY he was not.
But being two years younger than Dragic, with less experience, it seemed at the time that Lin's ceiling was higher. And I expected a long rebuilding process, so I was fine with waiting for Lin to develop, while we suck and get high draft picks. Nobody expected that we'd get H&H so soon and we would be contending by now...

Thank you. Some people love making things up to get things started.

DHolmes -- to be fair Dragic got his freedom with the ball in his hands while Lin is in a different situation .. to make it short Lin just shut down Dragic in the 4th to help beat the Suns.

He's definitely playing well and deserves to be a all-star.

BTW, the thread title is off - I don't think the interview addressed if the Rockets ever had a chance to keep Dragic.

Great guy, great players, he deserved that contract, at the end of the day it's business.

Man, I really miss Dragic. Not to take anything away from Lin, Bev or Brooks. But Goran has to be one of my favorite Rockets, even if it was for a short time. Every game he played hard for us and the big shots or plays he made for during his time here, really memorable. He was so exciting to watch. He loved playing the game and wasn't afraid to show it whenever he did make a big play.

No way he puts up the numbers he is putting up with the Suns here with Harden, Howard and crew but picture having him with Harden; two lefties would be so devastating.

He should prove to us why we shouldn't have let him go like he did with the Suns and sign with us after his contract is over.

To be fair to Lin, we never really gave him a chance to develop. I think when Morey signed Lin, he thought Lin would be the center piece and allowed to grow as a point guard. I think he felt Lin had a greater potential to become an allstar type point guard, if he could develop and learn. Once we got James and then Howard, Lin hasn't been able to develop as fast as he should have if Lin was the main guy.

Yes, exactly. Hindsight is 20/20; Lin did look like he had a higher All Star potential, being younger and less experienced than Dragon (and Lowry), and still having such huge impact in NY. But then, bam-bam, we get two superstars and he has to take a back seat.

DMo is in similar situation, if we were rebuilding, he would be getting tons of touches on offence and could develop into an AllStar... Now I wish we had the more polished PatPat as role player PF in the rotation of a contending team with two stars.

Bingo, it makes no sense to trash Morey for not having a crystal ball. It was the right decision both then and now.

I love Goran, and the reason he mentioned Chandler with KD was because they both said he should've been an all star, which he should have. Houston would obviously be better with him, but Gogi would have never realized his true potential here. He wanted to go to the Suns and I think he made the right decision

Goran would be sitting on the bench here at houston as 4th scoring option and we wouldnt be having this conversation.

what idiot voted low stars for this thread?

it's not like anyone of you suckers have that ability to ask any nba player any question.

clutch can do that, he represents all real rockets fans, and the nba knows that

and all real rockets fans wanted to know what dragic felt about the rockets

this is 5 stars. by default

Nice to drop that Yelchin reference.

Gogi means 'meat' I guess. Nothing dragon like.

    BTW Appreciated that interview.
