I seriously love the positivity in the GARM these days!!! keep the win streak going guys! Rox r for real. I believe in their potential too
Its nice. I was getting flamed earlier in the year for calling out some for getting to emotional early on. This team is starting to jell much like the past Rocket teams have. Buckle up gentleman.
Dwight has somewhat freakishly long legs (and arms) for his size - much different body type to Griffin, whose arm and leg length are on the average to below average side for his height, so naturally Blake's lower body will be bulkier. This is not to say Dwight can't get stronger down low, but his legs will always look 'skinnier' compared to his upper body by nature of his body type.
How were you referring to just last night's workout when you said: "I'm afraid he's not doing much to gain more strength/mass in his lower half. Perhaps the team feels he'll lose quickness, but i think Blake Griffin is a perfect example of how you can have both. Dwight still has some trouble on the block and it's because he can't keep his position or back guys down" You were basically saying he isn't working his lower body so he's not strong in the post. That is talking about his workouts in general... not just last night. And there are a million ways he could be working out. Maybe yesterday wasn't a leg day. Maybe he does splits. Maybe he is at a certain phase of his macrocycle where he is not doing heavy strength workouts for his legs (which in-season he probably wouldn't be). Also, how can you tell he isn't doing "hypertrophy" workouts? You saw him doing leg extensions. You don't know how many reps, sets, weight, time, or anything. You can't tell just from what exercise he is doing what kind of workout he is doing. Plus, athletes work in phases depending on what point of the season you are in. You don't know where he's at on his macro-cycle, and you don't know what his macro-cycle looks like. Basically, we don't know anything, and we can't tell anything from a few instagram videos.
There's some truth to that, but if he can get some size on his shoulders, then the potential is there for him to gain mass on his lower half as well. I'm just not sure he trains it the same way (or heavy as well).
Had to smile at this. Great to see D12 doing work while most might be enjoying the downtime. This makes me even more convinced about how serious he is about winning. I bet Lakers' fans see this and are like "why didn't WE get this Howard?"
Glad to see that Dwight is keeping up with his Houston regiment of working out even when others are chillin. Dwight has tremendously shown the Lakers nation that this is the real Dwight...and the aberration that was there was unhappy and unwanted. GO ROCKETS...
Me too. I wondered whether he'd return to a level at least approaching "Orlando Dwight," and I think he has. I wondered, like you, if he'd really been unfairly treated in LA, or if there was more than smoke to what had become a raging fire of bad press for the guy while he was a Laker. I wondered if he would fit in with who we had, and if they would fit in with him. Like so many of us, I was thrilled with the deal, but nervous, as well. That's all in the rear-view mirror. We've watched the team figure out how to get him the ball where he can be successful, while watching Dwight improve by leaps and bounds. It's a trip, and I hope it leads to a Finals appearance this year, or next year. I want a run to the Western Conference Finals. I want to experience that again, a series that means everything to the players and the fans, with the prize being what is so difficult to achieve, getting to play for the championship. It is so incredibly difficult getting that chance, much less winning when you get there. I'm as excited as I've been in a long time with the Rockets. We know how rare this feeling is. I hope everyone else does.
I'm not doing this again with you. I was clear about what I said. There's no need to nitpick everything i say about working out, in almost every thread, to make yourself look better. Jesus, you're like the Kwame all over again.
But has he really added size to his shoulders. This is a high school pic of D12. Although this appears to also be an earlier one of him: So it looks like his shoulder were achieved in high school and simply maintained in the league. (Just for fun: D12 before he was D12 (supposedly))
Not necessarily. My old baseball coach is a good example. He was built all over and was very fast. Very athletic. But he had the skinniest calves and ankles I've ever seen. He was built like a race horse. No matter what he does, he will never be able to build up his lower legs as much as the rest of his body.
Well then stop always being wrong and I wouldn't have to correct you. It wouldn't be fair to other posters if I just let you say things that are wrong and they'd believe you.
Or you could let us form our own opinions. I mean it's a public forum and everyone has their own opinions, just ask TOFs and LOFs. We don't need others fighting for us. Just saying, no need to use "other posters" as your defense. It's flimsy.
^^^Yes he has added size to his shoulders....It doesn't really matter whether it was a year ago or 8, in this context. The point I was making is that he's shown the (genetic) ability to gain and maintain size in one part of his body, so he should be able to elsewhere. He may never look like Blake, like the other poster was saying, because of his dimensions, but he's not this hardgainer that can't just add bulk either.
Expect him to break the rotation in the next few months....he is almost being stashed like T.Jones was earlier in his career. Its has become a trend....minimal exposure for young exceptional talented players.
I honestly didnt see Howard being this mature about things considering the past couple years. Someone must have had a talk, or he finally just realized it. DH wanting to keep flying under the radar is awesome to hear.
if this doesn't get you hyped up, you don't understand this game. this is bada$$ on so many levels: 1. this is what leaders of championship teams do and have done 2. the definition of leading by example - every Rocket sees this and understands what the goal is: championship. and this is what it takes. 3. don't think for a second that everyone else in the NBA doesn't see this. Just put a healthy fear in the hearts of the feeble and strong that havent ever been to the finals; this will be an advantage when it comes down to playoffs When this season started I knew that it would be all-star break before we knew who this team was and I thought we were only capable of getting to the Western Conference Finals. Now I think we get to the finals and once you're in the Big Dance, anything can happen!
That's great and all, but in my world, I include the thigh and hip as part of the leg. I wasn't going to respond to you, but it wouldn't be fair for you to say something wrong, like the legs are only the calves and ankles. People may actually believe you and I can't just let you do that around here.
