STephen A Smith on his morning show: "i heard some news about some potential deal involving Jeremy Lin" http://t.co/MES5uMJdUm 13:45 mark.
Yeah well, not surprising just from a CBA perspective. If Houston wants to bring in anyone who makes substantial salary, either Lin or Asik needs to be included in the trade as a matter of salary cap rules. Also, I bet most of the roster have been discussed as a part of some "potential deal." But in the NBA, there are thousands of "potential deals" discussed for every actual deal that gets done.
Need to try to package Asik and a draft pick at this point IMO. Gordon and MKG for Asik and 2014 first.
Ilyasova wants to be traded. Bucks have a lot of bigs Knicks has too many guards. how about a three team trade? The players involved can be : HOU : Asik, Lin, DMO and Brewer Bucks : Ilyasova, Henson?, Ridnour? Knicks : Chandler, Shumpert, Hardaway, Bargnani?
Why would the Knicks want to trade Tyson Chandler? He is still an extremely good player. There is not really a logical Rockets-Knicks swap. If the Knicks make a trade, they will likely be absorbing salary that extends beyond the 2014-15 season (e.g., Jeff Green, Gerald Wallace) for salary that does not (e.g., Amare Stoudemire, Andrea Bargnani). A salary dump for a team (like Boston) trying to improve cap flexibility.
I'd prefer just dealing with Milwaukee. Rockets Trade: Asik, Lin, pick Bucks Trade: Ilyasova, Pachulia, Brandon Knight That in conjunction with trading DMo for a wing that can defend and catch and shoot would be a great solution for this team.
No way a cash-poor team like Milwaukee takes on either of our balloon-payment contracts, let alone both.
Who are some 3 and D guys that the Rockets could look at acquiring? The only 2 I can really think of are Shumpert and Afflalo. Are their any others? It has been said that Morey is looking for a 3 and D guy or a player that can create off the dribble.
It would cut them years of committed dollars for both Pachulia and Ilyasova. However, Ilyasova has officially requested a trade now. This is another option: Asik and DMo for Ilyasova and Pachulia. They are trying to offload Gary Neal too and he could be added for Brewer and any of the min salary guys if they just want to salary dump with a pick.
Trust me Knick fans and media are DONE with Tyson Chandler. We would prefer Asik and Lin. The Knicks need a point guard badly and Tyson hates playing on the Knicks. He is also getting older and probably can't play at an elite level for 35 minutes but could for 20-25. The Knicks need a PG and a starting center the Rockets need a wing defender Shumpert(who just won't get minutes over THjr and JR Smith) and Asik is a starting center even if not elite. It also makes sense since it will save the Rockets 15 million dollars in cash. It would probably save the Knicks some money as well against the cap. It's a decent deal for both sides so Dolan would never go for it.
Any trade with Milwaukee needs to have Henson coming back. Illyasova sucks. He is like Casspi, imo. Not worth chasing.
How about Asik, Lin, Jones, 2014 first round pick, 2014 second round pick to the Knicks for Melo? The Knicks would pretty much add 3 starting caliber young talents and 2 rookies that's ideal for their quick rebuilding project. Lin would add excitement to the fan base. Even without Melo, the Knicks would be much improved. Then they can get a first round pick from trading Chandler and a second round pick from trading Bargnani to enable them to rebuild immediately. For the Rockets, they will have three legitimate all stars and a solid Parsons and Beverley in their starting 5. Dmo, Smith, Casspi, Garcia and Brooks into the rotation and sign Camby to back up Dwight. Have Parsons sub out early to be their pseudo sixth man.
Asik for KG just makes so much sense for both teams. We get KG to bolster our bench as well as play critical minutes in the playoffs. His contract won't be an issue for the 2015 FA. Asik gives them an actual center for the playoffs. His contract gets ugly next year, but with the limited tradeable assets and their owners willing to spend money, this won't that bad of an issue.
I think Asik's cap hit next year is the same as this year, which is the same as last year. ie. $8.3M (while being paid $5M this year and $5M last year, and $15M next year).
