Sorry for my ignorance, but why would the Knicks, who refused to match the HOU offer because of next year's salary owed to Lin, now want to trade for Lin with said salary? Are they cleaning house and that opens room for his salary?

Knicks have made it clear that they're looking for a big recently through the media, and shumpert is available since first game this season, Felton playing horrible and yawning in the OT loss huddle this week could've been the Knicks last straw with him and give in to Lin coming back.

I would be ecstatic if we can get Iman and Tim Hardaway for Lin.
Ten times better if its Iman and Hardaway for Asik.

I'd rather have Lin than Asik.

Poor Jeremy. He deserves better than returning to that zoo in Manhattan. The fans didn't treat him with an ounce of respect, and he's too good of a person to have to put up with the circus act ran by James Dolan.

This is coming from somebody who lives within walking distance of the Garden. New York sports and media is a freakin' mess these last few years.

i know it's been beaten to death, but we really need to keep him coming off the bench. i think asik by all means needs to go.

we really need to keep jeremy. i'm nervous about another PG having another breakout season after leaving the rockets.

Sigh. SAS. And when did any informed NBA fan give him the time of day?

Just speaking about a hypothetical trade to the Knicks:

Because the structure of the poison pill then was that the Knicks would have had to take a $15 million cap hit in 2014-15, and pay 2-3 times that in luxury taxes (assuming they remained over the tax line). That would not have been the case with the Rockets -- they had an even (averaged) ~$8.4 million cap hit each year.

If the Rockets trade Lin now, that cap number is transferred to the receiving team. The team has to PAY the $15 million next year, but doesn't take the same cap/luxury tax hit. On top of that, if the Knicks (again, hypothetically) trade for Lin, they would be sending out salary as well.

Bottom line: The financial hit is nowhere near what it would have been for them if they matched Lin's deal.

Why would Lin want to go from a Top 3 team in the West to a team not making the playoffs in the East?

That would be the most Knicks trade ever so...it might actually happen.

Morey will never trade Lin unless its for something better. Who on the knicks? Besides developing hardaway jr? We're in win now mode next year.

If Stoudemire had a cheaper contract, a trade with the Knicks would be more feasible.

It's not about what Lin wants, it's about what Morey wants.

Knicks?!? a trade involving felton? It must be a 3 team trade or something; no way DM would ever have Felton on the team.

Would be hilarious though if Felton ended up in Houston.
