Ariza's last foul on Harden should have been an offensive foul?

To me personally, a flop is a drama act to pretend a foul was committed aka CP3, Fisher, Clippers. Exaggerating your reaction to a very obvious fouls to force dumbass refs to do their freaking jobs is not flopping. That's Harden saying to the zebras, "Hey dummy! Do you have holes for eyes? Do your freaking job!"

Sure, that's a flop because he's badly embellishing a very minor touch to look like a foul. But the majority of CP3s flops involve more contact and most are legitimate fouls by the book (there's a reason that gif is so popular.. because it's particularly bad).

This one by Harden is worse than CP3s because they actually called a foul on this play.

The one the other night was a legitimate foul but they usually let that go (eg, Worthy holding Bird on the final possession of the '87 Finals "Magic hook" game). The part that was actually called wasn't even a foul-- it was Harden taking a dive and pulling Ariza with him.

I personally wish players would just cut this crap out and let the refs do their jobs. The game would have been better had they not called anything there-- Harden would have been free of Ariza if he weren't hooking him and would have gotten the ball in the same scoring position he eventually ended up with. Or I guess they could have called a foul and then a T for the obvious flop.

This shows your bias if you think CP3 and Fisher are floppers and Harden isn't. Harden is as bad of a flopper as there is in the league today.

I can't remember the last post of yours I read that wasn't related to flopping and more specific Hardens flopping.

I guess I can understand. If I were a clippers fan I would probably do my best to highlight all the other floppers in the league too.

    Keep up the damage control.

I'm glad I am memorable. I have no idea who you are. I post on tons of stuff in the general board. I was told to come here to discuss the Rockets.

So there's a sizable minority where there's less or equal contact? And you are in this thread talking about Harden when your own star does that?

Just be glad that you have the king of floppers and it's making your team relevant again. You speaking about other players flopping is like a KKK member complaining someone else may be racially intolerant.

Haha, all I did was comment to the guy who was trying to downplay this flop. Stand proud, man! This was a BEAUTIFUL flop by a true expert in the field. I have never denied that CP3 flops, but I've never seen him flop to win a game, so Harden definitely has a one-up on him there. I just don't want any hypocrisy here. In the NBA board there is tons of CP3 bashing because of his flopping (half the forum seemed to be celebrating his shoulder injury because it was related to a flop!) so let's put all the cards on the table here and give Harden some credit too.

Harden is getting the reputation among opposing fans as one of the more unlikable players due to his defensive flops and offensive flails. This thread on RealGM is pretty funny: James La Douche Harden.

But, to be fair, if, say the Clippers beat the Rockets in the same way-- with Blake or CP3 flopping and getting a weak call at the end of the game-- there'd be a 100 page thread here.

clippy is just saying that Harden needs more work if he wants to be near Chris Paul or Blake Griffin's flopping level.

I don't disagree, and he is right.

I am just hoping CP3 or Blake can add a game-winning flop to their resumes. Harden has set the bar very high, my friends.

Did the author even watch the game? Yeah, a turnaround jumper from the three point line with Dwight all over him is obviously an open jumper.

You can post as many videos as you want. I've never said Paul doesn't flop. He flops a ton (although there may be a "boy who cries wolf" effect here as he gets credited with things that aren't really flops, like that shoulder injury play which was speculative flopping at best). Most of these flops aren't called, which I'm all in favor of.

The hypocrisy is that you guys seem to think Harden isn't in that same tier, when he is probably worse than Paul at least this year. He has more flop warnings than anyone, should have gotten one here (won't because it's too embarrassing for the officials) and bases half his game on deceiving the officials on the offensive end with his absurd arm flailing. Look at what other fans say about him.

I am just saying you guys should stop denying it and embrace it, as I have! CP3 and Blake get hated on a ton and now Harden is in that same tier. Maybe it's a sign of respect or disgust or both.

Of course Harden flops, he just isn't flopping in this occasion, and you can argue as much as you want but that doesn't make you right.

You think getting fouled qualifies as a flop, and you don't understand the difference between selling a foul and flopping.

Seeing as you fail to make that distinction, I wouldn't be surprised if you thought Clippers and Lakers are the same team because they both play in the same city and stadium.

I am not saying Harden is not a flopper. I am saying that is not a flop.

Flopping is exactly what it sounds like: flopping around like a fish.. which isn't basketball. Almost all flopping is initiated by contact, and most contact is a foul by the book. Some plays-- like the CP3 and Harden gifs above, are truly bad flops, but they are in the minority. Most flops are routine fouls or things like holds that usually aren't called, but the flopper flails around to "sell" it. Yeah, by the book maybe they are fouls, but the point is that the flop is what caused it to be called.. which isn't basketball.

Just read what you said there. "Selling a foul"? You really consider that to be a basketball play? It's acting to tell the ref how to do his job. Just leave it up the refs. Otherwise you set this precedent where ever player has to exaggerate every time they think they are wronged, and that is what ruins the game.

You are really struggling to understand.

So here is the NBA's definition for you.

    http://www.nba.com/2012/news/09/27/nba-penalize-flopping.ap/

You might as well argue that the Lakers and Clippers are actually the same team whiles you are at it, you will have better luck with that. After all, they share fans.

On that play, the only reason that Harden fell down was because he wanted to fall down. His head also inexplicably snapped backwards. Yeah, you could argue he was fouled because he was held by Ariza, but that actually happened before the flop.

Flopping is just acting. Which isn't basketball. I'm not sure why this is so hard for you to understand. Take this to any non-Rockets board and I guarantee that 90% of the people will say it was a flop.

If that really was a flop, then Harden would be fined since it was a game changing foul and the NBA would want to protect their integrity under these circumstances.

Since he is not fined, I'm pretty sure the NBA is happy with that call.

And no, most boards I have surfed all agree that it was a legitimate foul and Harden sold it.

Bottomline is, Harden was legitimately fouled, he embellished. Not a flop.
