that would work for me,asik is bettre on D but chandler is a better finisher around the rim and can run p&r with lin inn 2nd unit. plus we dont know is asik is going to give 100% Im sure chandler will as a backup to get another ring.

Asik is so much better than Tyson Chandler.

Tyson Chandler has played a couple months of good basketball in his entire career. Sublimely overrated...

Chandler's great. If you get him, I think it would be possible to roll out the twin towers in limited minutes.

I think the real prize would be Shumpert. He could end up being your long-term 6th man (or perhaps starting PG) and provide some defense. Lin clearly is not at his best unless Harden is off the court...both he and Asik are gone after next season, so you make this trade for the long-term (potential) investment in Shumpert IMO.

It also helps in the short-term because I think we could really use a tough veteran like Chandler right now, though Asik is the better player when healthy.

In this scenario, we could probably flip Chandler to Phoenix for Okafor's corpse and that first rounder they're willing to give up. Then we flip Okafor and a second rounder to Philly for Hawes.

I would keep lin for now, not sure shumpert would stay because of moreys 2015 plans and cost. He’s not a go to scorer that can be a 6th man anyway he’s more of a 3 and fastbreak point guy. Knicks bring in asik they get a better center for now and the future and save money on cap now ($8.3 cap), asik $15mill next year wont matter to them they were going to pay that for chandler anyway & dont want to resign him, bigs are hard to find.

Rockets get a 3&d guy in shumpert. Shumpert has chemistry playing with lin in the backcourt & chandler has experience setting picks and finishing in p&r with lin. These 3 guys have proven to be successful together especially on defense with shumpert on wing and chandler down low which is what we need with our 2nd unit.

Asik + brewer + Covington/casspi/smith + 2nd round pick should get it done.

    Chandler
    2013-2014 $14,500,000
    2014-2015 $14,500,00
    shumpert
    2013-2014 $1,703,760
    2014-2015 $2,616,975

Why is New York the center of so many stupid trade ideas. NY media and fans have too much time on their hands smh.

asik is awful on offense. Tyson Chandler would actually be able to do alley oops or catch the ball when hes being passed to

Man, just imagining our bench as a mini-reunion of the Linsanity Knicks makes me smile - that could potentially be ridiculous and better than a lot of teams starting units.

this is a trade I could get behind. I'm not ready to give the backup PG spot to Aaron Brooks and i'm definitely not ok with Harden playing more minutes to fill the spot. Lin is a nice luxury coming off the bench and if we can add two players that he's had chemistry with in the past, it nudges us a little closer to a title.

We lose some rim protection by trading Asik but if we've got to let him go (and it looks like we do) getting Chandler in return is a great consolation prize.

There is no way they are trading Chandler and Shumpert for that if that's what you are suggesting. Like I said, I think they would be one of the few teams that would value Lin positively based on his contract.

I think New York would rather have Lin.

And TBH, we would probably have to dish out a first rounder as well to get that deal done. Instead of Smith you would probably throw D-Mo in.

You may be right but I don't think Lin will ever end up playing for the Knicks again. Just a strong hunch.

Didn't Tyson Chandler fracture his leg Sam Bowie style? I think it will continue to be a trend for him....

Resign Lin after his contract is up for about $5-7 mill yes. On ballon payment with asik no.

looking at the players you would think it would take more to get done but knocks are trying to keep melo that's their main goal PERIOD right now. I agree with a 1st may have to be included. They are clearing $8mill in cap by moving shump & chandler (they can wave other players after this season they don't have guaranteed money) this helps for signing and brining in more talent. They get one of the best defensive & rebounding centers in the league that will resign when his contract is up if starts. they already want to trade shumpert he hasn't produced as a starter that's not helping keep melo if he has to take all the shots and is getting no help. They also want hardaway to get more run. they get a first to maybe help unload stodmires contract also for more cap space to help melo by trying to get help this offseason.

Melo is not staying in ny if they don't show him they are at least trying to get him more help, no way he's staying if they don't have room to get help & upgrade other positions through trade when they have a chance. He will be gone of same roster is there next year.
