I meant that to say most if not all of the quarterbacks you mentioned don't have a 1st round grade including JFF...

And yes I know Teddy has a 1st round grade but I wouldn't burn money on him _ any where in the 1st round...

And Mallet was considered 1st round talent. Some even considered him the top quarterback coming out. Google it. But I wouldn't have burned a 1st round pick on him either even if he didn't have a cocaine problem or whatever they say he did/does.

Clowney + Mallet (signed to a long term deal) is a much better combination than Bridgewater or Manziel + whoever we'd draft in the 2nd round. And that's if we even have to give up our 2nd round pick for Mallet -- maybe we can get him cheaper.

Mallet has been groomed for a couple of years under great tutelage. He's got every single physical aspect you could ask for in a passer. He's not a runner, but that's not the NFL's game (unless you have a world class defense, like the Seahawks/49ers). O'Brien knows Mallet -- so presumably he has done his due diligence on the mental side of things.

Now that actually is a surprise. Just curious why do you dislike him so much? I know he was a tool in college, but I would think that if we traded for him it would be because O'Brien saw something in him that we didn't.

All elite QBs or even good QBs have ways to beat pressure, either by running (Wilson, Rodgers) or by reading the pressure and getting the ball away quickly (Brady, Manning).

What tools do you think Mallet has? He is slower than Schaub and how do you know he can read a defense?

That didn't help Manning much in the SB.

I don't think he's slower than Schaub... And from what I've been reading about Mallet is he has got better and he hasn't been garbage in the pre-season. And teams have tried to trade for him before and New England wouldn't give him up.

The question you ask about being able to read an NFL defense should be if these quarterbacks in the draft can do it...

The Texans would be nuts to sign Mallet to a long term contract before having a couple of seasons to evaluate him. This is why drafting a QB makes so much more sense, it gives the Texans plenty of time to decide if their new play caller is worth a huge deal.

    Just a reminder.

Mallett's 40 time at the combine was 2/10ths of a second slower than the slowest o-line starter for the Texans last year. (5.37)

And his mind is probably slower than his feet.

Very true. Matt Schaub thinks mallett is slow. I don't get the infatuation with mallett at all. No thanks

so your logic indicates we should obviously grab Tebow instead.

    amazing insight.

His line of logic clearly doesn't go there.

But at any rate, history has some examples of what happens to athletes when the game isn't their first priority, in any sport.
