True, but I think in this day and age with the internet and international markets, a really big name can sell anywhere. I mean, Lebron sold like crazy and he played in Cleveland. I think similarly a Wiggins or a Parker could at least make a decent amount of money in a Milwaukee or Charlotte. And definitely a lot in a decent sized market such as Philadelphia.

Plus, as I saiid before, the NBA benefits more from having 30 viable franchises that can put butts in seats instead of two powerhouses.

Im okay with Boston getting one, as I like their franchise.

But LA....***** em, hope they'll miss out on all big FAs and be stuck in mediocrity for years.

    Exactly

Anyone who believes that it is in the NBA's best interests to prop up Boston, LA or NY teams is someone who has bought into the hype put out by the media that those are the only markets that matter.

If you have a top player on your team, he is going to get noticed no matter what market he plays in. Hell, most east coast people think Houston is some little podunk backwater town, but our star players get noticed when they deserve it.

The whole "glamour" franchises thing is bullcrap.

This draft is the best draft in years. Their will be at least 3 superstars.

A better poll for this kind of question would be:

What do you think would be the percentage of people who would vote "yes" in such a question?

Kevin Durant is the perfect example of this.

Anything that improves Lakers/Celts is a no go.
But then, getting a rookie and rebuilding around him might just be the direction that points to long term mediocrity.

I don't mind if the Celtics get a top 3 pick. Their three amigos era wasn't really a dynasty, since they just won one. Before that, for a while they ranged from bad to first-second round playoff team with Pierce and Walker (ha!).

The Lakers though, I want them to get a top 3 pick. Actually, I want them to get the top pick...and them have him turn into a Michael Olowokandi/Kwame Brown bust. Muahahaha.

Id say only 1 of the 3 top guys in this draft actually lives up to their fully hyped potential.

How could anybody possibly vote yes on this? And the "run a crooked league because you've always run a crooked league" argument is pretty stupid.

I thought Phoenix had the Lakers' pick? I'm curious about that.

Jim Buss does appear to be a moron, but it is definitely not in the leagues best interest to have the Lakers not be in the playoffs. They are the marquee franchise and, without them, a big percentage of the NBA fans will not care about the NBA. I don't think anyone can argue against the Lakers having the most fans in the NBA. Half the arenas are still filled with Lakers fans when they visit even though they are having a terrible season rampaged by injuries.

With the Lakers, Knicks, and Bulls all sucking for the first time in probably 50 years, Adam Silver is looking at some problems unless he does something to alleviate. NHL would love to benefit from the NBAs lack of marquee brand name teams in the playoffs.

I would like the Lakers to finish a solid 9th or 10th place.

They had the Lakers pick last year. I think there's a rule in the NBA where you can't trade your first round pick on consecutive seasons...otherwise the Lakers probably would have traded it away.
