    http://audio.weei.com/a/87431194/chris-mannix-on-the-celtics-trade-options.htm

Chris Mannix, who works for SI and other outfits discussed the Celtics on a Boston radio show. A couple of mentions related to Asik:

    1. When the teams discussed an Asik deal, Boston did not want to include Jeff Green and thought he too valuable. Now both Boston and other teams are much lower on Green due to his Jackyl and Hyde act.

    2. When the Asik deal was being discussed Houston "wanted no part of" Brandon Bass. Brandon Bass continues to have no trade value.

-Mannix also mentions that teams around the NBA think highly of Rondo but none of them has made an offer than Boston deemed close to sufficient for his value.

-In addition, Mannix says that he got the sense that a lot of teams are looking at Kevin Love for 2015 and don't want to take salaries that could jeopardize 2015 cap flexibility.

At this point, the most significant acquisition for the Rockets might just be a healthy, positive Omer Asik. Nothing we get in return will match his defensive presence, and overall impact on the game (minus a significant role player) at a position of need. I'm betting against it, but this might the first year that Morey is semi-quiet at the trade deadline. I'd be perfectly ok with that if it means Asik is buying into his role on the team, and his ready to play his heart out much like he did last year. He'll be a huge addition to this team come playoff time.

David Aldridge on TNT show tonight. Shaq asked him if Houston is still gonna trade Asik. Aldridge said, "They want to."

Guess Daryl and Omer's agent are still trying to make a deal happen, but they probably aren't too hopeful that a deal will in fact happen.

Really need some bench help, and if Asik can be moved for a good piece then we go and do that. Anyone that thinks Asik will be ok playing 15-17 mins a night is mistaken. He has been wanting to leave and hopefully we grant him that, given we get a good deal. IF not, then tough, Asik has to suck it up and play.

Asik is really our only trade chip,Garcia,Smith,Trashpi,Brewer and Brooks have no value and I would Not give up on DMo since you do Not trade skilled 7 footers

    We will wait and see

New York Knicks Trading for Houston Rockets’ Omer Asik, Jeremy Lin?

If I thought it was anything serious I would have created a new thread for it. But just sounds like a lot of one-sided wihing on the part of the Knicks. The want to dump Chandler for a younger Asik and Felton for Lin. Throw in Shumpert for cap balance and maybe even Hardaway.

All to satisfy Melo so he doesn't leave next year. If Melo approves the deal they would do it he says. Unfortunately Morey would like to get at least a little balance. We get a lot of salary for two year so it's not even a salary dump.

Lin and Marshmallow didn't exactly click before, now did they? And didn't Marshmallow have some not so nice things to say about Lin's contract?

I can see the Knicks wanting Assik, though, but who doesn't?

Good thing you didn't create a new thread, because there is no source, just speculation by a website.

I think Knicks might seriously make that offer.

Because they have to do SOMETHING. The only thing that has kept New Yorkers from burning the place down is the hope that there will be some blockbuster trade.

Felton is trash. Shump is way overrated and his knee might be a real issue going forward. I think thats why they want to trade him so badly. So lets just forget those guys and say we get the best possible trade.

Knicks send us Chandler + Hardaway. We send Lin and Asik.

Financially, we get a cap hit of 15 million next year, which saves us about a million in cap space. But, we seriously downgrade our bench. Chandler is injury prone and a declining, lesser Asik. Hardaway, while he has potential, is a raw rookie.

    Bad trade.

Now, if they want to trade Melo...

Morey not giving up on the twin towers concept? Was it Curry or Chandler who played PF for the baby Bulls?

Chandler has the right contract. It expires in time for 2015 free agency.

Tyson + Jones + Hardaway + picks from somewhere for Love. That's starting to look good too.

Now teams recognize the jekyll and hyde act in Green? It took them this many years to figure that one out? They didn't spend 30 seconds looking at a game log at any point in his career?

    I should have become a GM. :(

(That being said, I still like Green, as long as you have a coach that recognizes the nights he has the hot hand.)

This is still interesting, knicks could last minute want to swap asik for chandler + fillers of course. Chandler would be ok with coming off the bench compared to asik since he will be on a contender. His contract is up 2015 also. Both teams have younger players they can work with shumpert/hardway jr. We have brewer, canaan, Covington and some cash.

You know, the last line of that article goes like this:

This is just another one of those rumors that happen this time of year. Very little traction, lots of one-sided desire and more talk than action. Don't hold your breath. This probably isn't happening.

Which is probably the case. Somebody invented a trade scenario and it took on a life of its own.

    Now watch it actually happen.

If you can get a solid backup center + a young player like tim hardaway jr in a trade for asik + filler + maybe 2nd round pick or cash you do that. Thats makes the harden trade even more sweeter its like you get a lamb back in hardaway jr which is solid back up for harden high energy guy. 39% form 3. Without really giving up much. Morey get on the phone !

    2013-2014 $1,196,760
    2014-2015 $1,250,640
    2015-2016 $1,304,520 team option
    2016-2017 $2,281,605 team optioin

We really need to shy away from posting speculative blog posts. This isn't even an article, it looks like an essay I wrote in Jr. High. If Woj, Stein, or Amick haven't heard anything I'm sure this guy hasn't either.
