This shows coach is democratic and values the input of his players. This is why they play hard for him.

Individual spectacular performances happen in the NBA. Like Ariza's 8 threes in the third quarter. A good team wins in spite of that. Nuff said.

You are exactly right. The players aren't afraid to speak up. This team is a true team.

Not to be a "body language doctor" here, but it's important that the team is passionate and actively engaged in the timeout in a game where almost all of them made multiple bad mistakes that was about to cost the team a win. Instead of hanging their heads or act frustrated and pointing the finger at each other, these guys are drawing up plays and focused on finding a way to win.

This is the kind of culture you want to foster within the organization.

He gets busted up a ton here for lack of "play calling", but this was an impressive adjustment.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en data-scribe-reduced-action-queue="><p>What McHale changed from inbound play 1 to play 2 was how JLin cut to inbounder. On 2nd play, Lin faked, broke off route, Harden cut to ball.</p>&mdash; ClutchFans (@clutchfans) <a href="https://twitter.com/clutchfans/statuses/433821399463890944">February 13, 2014</a></blockquote>

McHale has obviously fostered a winning culture. A culture where the coaching staff values the player's input and has them actually invested in winning games. There is no better coach for the Rockets. McHale has succeeded at his job. And Mastermind Morey has shown that he has the knack for picking the right coach for the job. Kudos for everyone! And deep six this thread. It has become an embarrassment.

Except when Rockets lose when they should of won certain games due to incompetent coaching. As good as a team or players are they still need a solid coach to direct them and supplement their play. Come playoffs this team will suffer under McHale like they did last season.

Sigh. That is your personal (and probably biased) opinion. McHale did just great against a superior OKC team in the playoffs last season, including the completely innovative Harden on Ibaka strategy. So you really are just far*ing a hot air opinion aren't you?

#1 The statistical studies on NBA coaches show that only a select few (3-4 in the entire league) make more than a 1-3 win difference.
#2 McHale wasn't out coached in the playoffs last year.
#3 The irrational hatred for McHale is out of control.

Sigh. That is your personal (and probably biased) opinion. So you really are just farrtting a hot air opinion aren't you?

A 7 game winning streak, us finally being in the standings where our talent suggests that we should be, and JLin taking over defensive coaching duties for the last play of the game, does not suggest any of what you stated as FACT. Where is the "IMHO" as you so arrogantly demand that everyone else use? Don't be a hypocrite.

No one ever said that this team couldn't be successful, but rather that we have the talent and SHOULD be successful. The theory this year has always been that McHale was in the way, rather than him being the solution. As I stated in my previous post, the reason they are having more success now is because McHale is getting out of the way (JLin coaching the last defensive play) verse McHale becoming some great coach. All he has to do is stay the course, but that has to be proven through the rest of this season and in the playoffs.

Saying this thread has no value because of a 7 game winning streak is only your faulty opinion based on ZERO FACTS.

Actually I have been saying this thread has no value for a year. In the press conference right after the hiring of McHale Morey stated that McHale was "a delegater. A motivator of men." How are those attributes of less value now than then? A young extremely talented team does not need a disciplinarian coach. They need a coach that can assign responsibility, foster player development, get buy in to the system. And has McHale not done that? What more could a very young and talented team want in a coach?

Oh, and Mastermind Morey evidently agrees with me.
