I didn't comment on Monroe. I simply corrected the post that said Stuckey gives us shooting. He don't.

I would do this trade if nothing better came along as long as the draft picks come from another team and not us because it clears Lin's contract and gives us a good, young big, a nice trade exception and plenty of off season options and flexibility.

I'm not sure if you guys appreciate how obvious it is that Phoenix WILL be trading a first round pick with Emeka Okafor's contract for the best center they can get their hands on. Phoenix is thrilled with its Bledsoe-Dragic starting backcourt, they love P.J. Tucker at SF (superb underrated player), they like the assortment of bugs who can shoot the ball (Channing Frye, the Morris twins), but C is a problem. They need someone who can rebound and defend in the middle, someone better than Miles Plumlee.

AND, look at the standings. There are five teams (Phoenix, Golden State, Dallas, Memphis, and, to a lesser extent, Minnesota) competing for the 6-8 spots. Three in, two out. The difference between a playoff spot and the lottery, for Phoenix, is the difference between Miles Plumlee and a good C such as Asik.

Who are the available Cs? They are (IMO):

    Asik
    Anderson Varejao
    Spencer Hawes
    Bismack Biyombo
    Larry Sanders
    Kendrick Perkins
    Enes Kanter
    Pau Gasol

Cleveland is irrational, and overvalues its players, so Varejao won't happen. The Lakers are maybe even more irrational than Cleveland, plus, isn't Asik better than the aging, injury-prone Gasol? Kanter and Biyombo are intriguing but unproven. Sanders is very expensive and behaves badly.

THUS: Phoenix trades for either Asik, or Hawes. And Asik is a far better rebounder and defender. So, Asik it is, assuming another team does not outbid them.

And, again, it is clear that Houston will flip this first round pick + Okafor package for one or two good, helpful veterans. Spencer Hawes is my projection but there are other options. But you get the idea. Anyway, we're a week away from something finally happening, and something WILL happen here. Morey's patience will pay off.

Dmo for Dunleavy, I wouldn't do it. One player has a lot of potential and many years left to play, while the other only has a couple of years left to play. I like his 3 point shooting, but his D sucks.

    Asik/Dmo/Brewer for Ariza/Gortat.

Fills our need for a decent backup big (albeit not that great on the defensive end) and a 3&D player.

    Beverley/Lin
    Harden/Ariza
    Parsons/Ariza/Garcia
    Jones/Smith/Casspi
    Dwight/Gortat

    Nice!

Houston is ranked number 20 in three point shooting, so another gunner is crucial, preferably a 3+D.

We needs a veteran steady pg presence that the coach can trust. Also need a wing stopper. Finally a 3 point sharp shooter.

I still say a solid vet PF for playoffs is what we need the most, 3&d guys that are only going to play 12-15 mins behind parsons can be found easily. Parsons need to step his defense up with the 1st unit he's the guy that's going to be out there the most.

Does anyone else think about Ryan Anderson, yes, even NOW while he's on the disabled list.

he's injured and he might be done for the season. but maybe this is the perfect chance to get him for much less. think of it as a "clearance-priced" player. I say if we can afford to get him, still get him and he would be a key part of the squad next season.

I know I trolling - Dunleavy is a win now player vs DMo a someday maybe. Dunleavy plays smart and does a lot of small things that do not show up on a stat sheet - more of a team D than lock down. His D is an upgrade from what we have / are getting now. PLUS a sure shot from 3. In the playoffs the rotation get smaller and smart play is a must. He can log minutes at the 1 - 4 for a lot of different looks.

Jones backed by committee is the answer for the play-offs so many options. Plus Jones and DMo have the same amount of time on their contracts. (I pick Jones to resign)

= Dunleavy is better for us now then DMo will be tomorrow.

Jones has been playing at a very high level most of the season , only a handful of poor games. Being the 4th or 5th option , his numbers are plenty good.

Where this team lacks is in ball handling and decision making , especially in the half court. The upgrade this team needs is at the point guard spot .... Lin makes so many boneheaded mistakes & Beverley , despite his fit next to Harden being better than that of Lin is a quality backup , not a quality starter.

The team averages only 20 assists per game , tied for 5th worst in the league and their assist to turnover ratios are poor and they turn the ball over more than any team in the league beside Philly.
Sure you can blame some of those turnovers on their pace ..... but that makes their assist numbers look even worse.

    A/To ratio

    Lin - 1.66
    Beverley - 2.43
    Harden - 1.43
    Parsons - 1.94
    Team - 1.25

The upgrade needs to come at the PG spot and since that likely means moving Lin and he gets some minutes at SG behind Harden , you need to find a solid backup at the SG/SF in the process.

Question is , who's available and what would you have to give up to acquire them ?!

They clear cap. It depends on what they plan when it comes to free agency.

Asik and Lin for Brandon Bass and Gerald Wallice + Lottery Pick. We use pick to pick up M. Smart and run a starting five of Smart, Harden, Parsons, Bass, and Howard. That is an athletically freakish team that could become a dominating force.

why trade for a PF we need another PG (Beve hurt again) I say go sign a veteran oversea guy(Rodriquez is getting a soild look at from OKC) and do a trade to get a backup 5 and a SG. We are going to have to get Harden some rest or he is going to burn out. Grabing Turner to me is the soultion it allows us to move players around in differant line ups that create nightmares. Imagine Bev Harden Turner Parsons ans Dwight on the floor at the same time.

+ Suns add 1st picks to Houston.

In the off-season the Rockets offer:

Nash + Greek Freak + 1st picks via Suns for Love

Houston have unguaranteed contracts to help sweeten the deal if Minnesota chooses to salary dump a player.
