Kobe Bryant walked all over Phil Jackson, arguably the greatest NBA coach ever. Heck, Jackson even labelled Kobe as an uncoachable player. I'm not saying McHale is the greatest coach ever, nor do I think he has the best offensive schemes, but he is well respected amongst players and that's a big plus on a team with a lot of young talent.
Why do you constantly make up conversations to prove your ludicrous point-of-view? It's embarrassing to read. Journalists used to be instructed to never form a hypothesis on a subject - this was a way for individuals to maintain objectivity and not pursue angles that only serve to prove their original theory. You are one of the most biased posters regarding your attempts to slander people and prove your own hypothesis with the most preposterous FAKE conversations on the GARM. Trust me, we understand you don't like our coach and no one will ever be able to convince you otherwise. Literally, I barely looked and found 3 of your posts in this thread with similar fake conversations that revolve around our coach "saying" something along the lines of "I'm a stupid idiot dolt who can't do anything if Morey no want to."
Yes, I'll give you that. I do think McHale would look like a better coach if Harden would have more of that respect you mention. Therein lies the thorny situation: McHale leans heavily on that All Star talent, even though that All Star talent wants too much to be the man. I hope the sullen, it's-just-the-Wizards, gotta-get-ready-for-AllStar-game version of James Harden doesn't show up tonight.
JTR, for real? Like do you think you know me or something? Have I learned nothing? Am I dense? First of all, your debate/discussion etiquette is turrible, so maybe you should direct those questions to yourself before you to do anyone else. Second, the entire premise/disposition of my post was that McHale may not need to be fired if he can accomplish a few things, because we have such a good team already; but that even with this being the case, he is NOT a top 10 coach in this league and that we could use a top ten coach if we wanted to maximize our chances for a championship(s). I still STAND by that assertion. I never said that we couldn't win a championship with McHale as coach, but rather pointed out his flaws and things that I BELIEVE he has to change in order to give us that opportunity. Third, I wrote that post on the 30th of January, almost two weeks ago, while we still had a good record, of course now we have our longest winning streak of the season. So now you come and try to respond like you knew it was going to go this way and our winning ways is because McHale is some great coach. If you felt so strongly about my post, why didn't you respond then? Of course, it really doesn't matter when you respond, even a year from now, McHale will still probably be who he is as a coach today, or slightly better because I do see some improvements from him lately. Finally, I would break down each of your points individually, but others have already done it and whether I agree entirely with what they said or not, I don't find it necessary to do again, especially since you seem to have an attitude problem and are not probably worth trying to discuss differences as adults and not from a childish name calling point of view. McHale has been using decent rotations for about 10 or less games now. Some of it is probably due to injuries and getting players back, but more of it is probably due to the fact that certain players were just stinking it up or playing in a way that he had to incorporate them more. (DMo/Lin) Either way, he has a two and a half year history with the Rockets of terrible rotations and minute distribution, so he has to continue to prove that he can sustain this pattern throughout the rest of the season and through the playoffs before I will say that he finally has it together.
We all leak little pieces of ourselves out with every word we speak. So yes I do know you to some degree. And who are you to decide this early in his Rocket's tenure that McHale is not a top ten coach? The most junior member of his staff has more NBA knowledge than both of us put together. Are you really qualified to pass judgement on someone that Morey would entrust his precious franchise to? People like you drive me to distraction. You always assume that your opinion is fact when actually it is a poor reconstruction of the complex reality that is today's NBA. You basically lecture the CF audience from a position of ignorance, much like many other members here. Words like perhaps and possibly and even probably would enrich the paragraphs you write tremendously. Because you definitely do not know.
Man, thank for jinxing the Rockets . Now we know who is really responsible for the jinx/losing/no champs
Whatever man. I said what I said and everyone that has any small reading comprehension skills knows that it was just my opinion...not necessarily anyone else's on this board or anyone in the Rockets organization. I have noticed your posts since you joined this board, and as usual, you are nothing greater than annoying.
Well this whole thread was started (and seconded) by some moron(s) who said that we will never win with McHale as the coach regardless of the talent level of the team. Now that that has obviously been proven wrong, the same fools argue that we should be better. Our GM said that the list of coaches who could do what McHale has done this year is short if it exists at all, but they know a lot more than our GM. It's amazing how you can change the goal posts on CF any time your theory gets blown up. Luckily, we can still refer to their posting history.
What ever dude. I stand by my position. Opinion presented as fact is never a good thing. Unless it is actually backed up by facts.
Hubris. A terrible thing. I would never ever assume that I knew more than Morey or McHale. They live the NBA and I do not. And Morey is pretty obviously the sharpest tool in the shed. It would be ludicrous for any fan to propose that he did not hire a top flight coach. It might even be insulting.
Only a person with the arrogance such as you have would ASSUME that an opinion is presented as a FACT.
This team is so talented that it might win a championship regardless of coach, but it definitely would be better with a better coach.
OH yeah, I wanted to add that we should give Mchale the chance to prove himself this playoffs, if we don't get out of first, he has got to go.
And that is how you interpret your own statement? Nice caps by the way. It looks like a statement of fact. The meaning would be vastly improved with a simple modification: It somehow makes much more sense in the greater context of the NBA. Because neither you nor I are experts. I do want to discuss the overall effect of web sites like CF on most readers from a psychological standpoint. How do statements like yours affect the general opinion of readers? I just do not believe you are the correct person to have that discussion with.
holy chiot. i've seen it all. He is wearing a TIE AND A POCKET SQUARE tonight! that was all i wanted this month.
