Patterson put up 22 against the Pelicans last night.

Looking for a stretch four? Jumper, jumper, jumper, jumper, jumper.

Really wonder what the Raptors are going to do this deadline.

What would we give up to get him? DMo Has certainly stepped up recently! TJones can be a beast!

I'd love to have him on this team, but I have a hard time seeing how a trade would work. Patterson is exactly the type of player BOTH Houston and Toronto would want.

The more important question is how is he defensively compared to DMo? Because that is whose minutes he would take.

My guess is the that only deal the Rockets will have that they seriously consider before the deadline will be for Dunleavy, or maybe a 2/3 defender we haven't heard about already. I can see us shuffling our lineup of bigs.

Surprised Carl Herrera hasn't chimed in yet.

He must be in a meeting.

Oh, well. He's in this thread in spirit.

    Here, I'll summon him:

"Gee, Thomas Robinson is a far better player than Patrick Patterson. Boy howdy I'm glad we traded away PatPat."

    5...

    4...

Just trade our whole team for him.

He is the stretch 4 we need!

Patterson is totally outclassed by the Rockets current rotation. There is no place for him on this team.

He is so money from mid-range. Love watching him with that wet jumper.

We'll probably get Dirk as a FA in the off season so that really dilutes the salty wounds.

Pat Pat >>> D-Mo on both ends of the floor. Bringing him and Asik off the bench to relieve Howard and T-Jones would be awesome.

In the playoffs if T-Jones falters, Pat Pat would soak up the minutes.

D-Mo is doing better, but he's still completely clueless on defense. He has potential but not for this year.

After Morey traded Pat, didn't he make a comment about someone having to pay him soon and needing cap flexibility? We already have Jones developing at a fast pace, but if Morey really wanted to bring Pat back, the Rockets could still use the MLE (or part of it), right?

I'm a big Patrick Patterson guy, and I'd love to bring him back to the Rockets . . . BUT . . . if the Rockets are seriously looking at 2015 free agency as a main avenue to acquire a third star-level player (assuming that a trade for one does not materialize before then), then adding Patterson may not fit very well with that plan.

Patterson will be a restricted free agent this summer (assuming that the Rockets extend him his $4.3 million qualifying offer) and will likely command a new multi-year contract starting in the Taxpayer MLE ($3.3 million) to Non-Taxpayer MLE ($5.3 million) range. Unless PPatt agrees to just take his 1-year qualifying offer, you'd be looking at an extra contract potentially clogging the books and eating too far into the Rockets' cap space to add a major difference-maker in 2015 free agency.

Of course, if the goal is simply to add Patterson for a title run THIS season, then you need to ask yourself what you'd be willing for the Rockets to give up in exchange for a 3-month rental of Patterson. The Raptors at this point would likely want a first rounder for Patterson, who I could see the Raps keeping longer-term this summer. Would you want the Rockets to give that up knowing that Patterson may not be re-signed?

This is an interesting conundrum, IMHO. Love the player. Not sure the fit works with the overall long-range plan for the franchise, though.

Here's my kharmic trade- we trade Asik to the Bulls, who trade Boozer to the Jazz, who trade Richard Jefferson and picks to the Nets, who trade Garnett to Minnesota who trade Martin to Sacramento who trade Gay to Toronto who trade Patterson to us.
