I voted no. "Teammate" would imply taking showers within the group. That would make me uncomfortable, just in the same way if it were a woman. Now, if it's just a teammate where you go and play and nothing else, I don't care.
If you've played on a football team then you have probably showered with guys who were homosexual. If you've been in the armed forces then you've probably been in the shower with homosexuals too. If you've been in any kind of gym and showered there then you have probably been in the showers with homosexual men. If you've hung out in that locker room just to change then you have probably got naked around homosexual men. Homosexual and straight women shower with each other on sports teams too. The homosexual women aren't out raping the straights when this happens.
what some people are saying, and this is the part that doesn't make sense, is that they might have been comfortable around the same gay person before they had knowledge of that person's gayness. now that the person is openly gay (remember he was always a gay teammate in the first place), their teammate is now uncomfortable around them. nothing changed about the gay person. the only thing that changed is other people's awareness of the gay person being gay.
I don't feel comfortable getting naked in front straight dudes either. Maybe I just can't be an athlete.
I've had gay teammates before, most didn't come out during school but after. Came as no surprise when they did. That said, a lot of straight guys did plenty of really 'gay' things in locker rooms.

My niece is gay, and after she let us (her family) know...right about the time she finished high school, think...I realized I loved her too much to be hung up about something like that. I think, personally, my deal revolved around the sexual connotations that tend to unfarily surround homosexual men: promiscuous attacted to other men ALL THE TIME promiscuous and promiscuous Just had this odd feeling somehow that, if I knew a guy was gay, that somehow he was sizing me up for the kill... Nothing fruity, just a couple of fellas talking about their workout routines while enjoying a nice hot shower. The guy looked like a real man's man, too–big biceps, meaty thighs, thick neck. He didn't seem the least bit gay. At least not until he started sucking my ****, that is. Where does this queer get the nerve to suck my ****? Did I look gay to him? Was I wearing a pink feather boa without realizing it? I don't recall the phrase, "Suck my ****" entering the conversation, and I don't have a sign around my neck that reads, "Please, You Homosexuals, Suck My ****." I've got nothing against homosexuals. Let them be free to do their gay thing in peace, I say. But when they start sucking my ****, then I've got a real problem. I just wish there were some way to get them to stop. I've tried all sorts of things to get them to stop, but it has all been to no avail.
