I haven't had any luck with the VidCast app. Tried doing it with Amazon Video and even tried with an mp4 file into my browser, no go.

The traditional Cast button still has some hangups, so haven't used it much. Plus, I hate that I can't full screen the video and use my computer at the same time.

Thinking about picking one of these up, I have a bluray player that does most of what chromecast does, but I don't get HBOgo on it and also netflix has trouble loading often so I have to reset it, its a pain. Anyways, any issues with chromecast is this regard? Or is it pretty smooth?

The SDK supported apps are great. And searching for songs/movies/etc on my phone are a whole lot easier than navigating on my smart TV or bluray remote.

Thanks. Also, when casting something to the TV, can you still use your phone or ipad? Or does it have to stay on whatever you casted? And does casting drain the battery?

Applications that are supported run off the Chromecast - YouTube, Netflix, Pandora, HBOGo, etc - and only need your phone/iPad to kick off. Once they start running you can do other things.
Sites that are not supported directly can be run from a Chrome browser but it requires the PC/laptop to do the conversion for it so it can be choppy if your machine is not up to par. Also, I believe you can't do fullscreen and switch to something else.
But with the SDK being opened up, expect to have a flood or supported apps very soon.

In a nutshell, your mobile device is the controller. It controls the content sent to the Chromecast like a tv remote controls the tv and what channels you wanna watch.

Awesome. Thanks for the heads up. I'll give it a try.

I use it with my Logitech revue, but curious to see how it is on Chrome cast

Plex brought back life to it. Plus I've been using it to stream rickets games on the TV in the browser.

Got mine a few years ago. For like $60 from new egg.

It is under powered... Buggy... And of course abandoned... But for what I use it for I love it.

Seriously, it's brilliant. I use mine virtually everyday. I no longer have cable but, use it to stream the rockets games to my TV. (Among other junk)

It just needs support for the TNTdrama app, WatchESPN, Spotify, and Twitch.TV then I will be content.

Can you not use the WatchESPN app with it? I'm going to buy one today.

You can from a computer, (you just cast the browser tab) not from a phone yet. (to my knowledge anyway)

Do you have an xbox? You can stream watchespn via the xbox app. Looks great too.
