Rockets are upto 3rd in the NBA Power Rankings http://www.nba.com/2014/news/powerrankings/02/10/week15/index.html?rss=true
I hope this and the ESPN rankings don't jinx us. It seems like every time we get a big bump from their standings, we immediately lose a few games(and usually against scrubs).
Every time I see Dallas they are playing some scrub teams and winning. Has their schedule been ridiculously easy so far?
They have a better conference record, and have beaten us, but I believe We fare better against better competition. The clippers really beat up on the bad teams (i.e. the mauling of the sixers last night) and that inflates their numbers. I believe their defense against good teams is really poor.
Entire season is accounted for. ORL went 3-0 last week beating top teams, yet are 24th. ATL went 0-3 and are 14th.
They have beaten us twice in the last week? You have to take care about details, this is not the season's final power rankings..its reflecting this very last week and is going week by week. Btw. having CP back means not really much for those standings
Actually its more like the starting point of this week is the end of the last one..so the standings don't start from scratch but if you have more impressive wins (and maybe also not only twice by 1 point even if against really tough opponents) and are playing better THAT particular week, you go higher from last week's ending point as other teams if that makes sense to you.. Power rankings are bs anyway
Power ranking is clearly done on a weekly basis when the ranking for "last week" was also being displayed. Both the Rockets and Mavericks had a 5w streak so not surprised we are at #3 and #9. Very similar to when GSW with 7w streak and they ranked very high for that week.
High Jumps of the Week: Dallas +5, Houston +5 and Orlando +4. The 5W streaks and Orlando beating 2 top teams were the reasons. If the entire season was counted it would just follow the normal ranking.
