You guys bump this thread up to where it's on the front page constantly. And every time I glance and read the title I immediately think....."Why?"
Can't believe THIS team beat KY at Rupp. I know KY is way down, but considering we lost to Southern at home, I just figured it was impossible. Haven't had a chance to follow the team much this year yet, but they've already surpassed my expectations I miss having a team with a legit chance to do something in March though. Hopefully it gets turned around fully in the next year or two as there is some talent there.
Anyone still following the program? Ha. Watching them on ESPNU against Arkansas, first game I've caught in awhile. (Losing 33-26) Kinda sad how it's fallen back. Back to irrelevant? Is that too strong? Ehh maybe. That's not to say they were ever elite or great but they were solid. From the work Gillispie did, passed onto Turgeon, and then now. 17-13 overall, 7-10 in conference, left to fighting for a NIT spot.
So... can we fire Kennedy yet? Or are we not allowed to due to his condition? Or are we just trying to fit in in the SEC and not care?
I don't see a relevant coach ever wanting to come coach in the SEC unless it's Kentucky. Unfortunately, I have a feeling we're going back to the days of being a Football School, without little else to offer by way of the major sports. Sucks, but it is what it is. I was loving the days of BCG and Turgeon though.
I think Gillespie is available. j/k. The Aggies need to throw serious $$ out there and swing for the fences. SMU hired Larry Brown for crying out loud and he's taking them to the tourney. Maybe Buzz Williams would leave Marquette since the new Big East is looking slightly shaky? If not him, throw the dough at Shaka Smart or Josh Pastner.
I would love to have BCG, insane asylum jacket and all. The man can coach. I'm not sure how SMU is paying Larry Brown. Since they're a private school they are probably giving him all kinds of off-the-book perks TAMU cant compete with. TAMU brought in JVG in for an interview when Turgeon left. So it's not like they're afraid to swing for the fences. I believe Buzz Williams was a finalist for the job that Kennedy got but you probably already know that. Byrne is gone, not sure where things are headed.
So, that was one of the most bizarre closing finishes that I've ever seen. Down 59-57 in closing seconds, Tennessee hit a miraculous game-winning 3 at the buzzer that should've won it. But Cuonzo Martin called a timeout from across the floor, literally the moment before the shot. Then, with 2.4 seconds left, somehow the Vols were able to inbound it directly underneath the basket to Stokes, who scores and gets a dumb "and 1" foul from Caruso with 0.3 left. Had the free throw to win it... and he chokes. Now overtime.
Florida isn't doing too bad, even though Donovan is probably going to be the coach until Florida sucks.
Who cares about the NCAAs and the NIT ... Its all about the CBI .... Amirite!!! Ugh! Side note ... It took us 19 months to fill the last page of posts ... Kennedy has to go!
