Geno Smith was the "consensus" pick last year as well The first are of warfare is deception... Teams will never reveal their true intentions, especially if the Texans think they could trade back to fleece the Rams, Jags, Browns, or Raiders
It's too easy to kill timing routes by simply pressing them on the line, especially when you know your pass rush won't let the QB hold on to the ball for any time at all. When you don't have to worry about getting burned deep because you know they won't have time to set it up you can play slant routes and press off the line much easier. Also, the Jags don't exactly have a stellar WR corps. The only way they "carve up" our secondary is if the QB had time to hang out in the pocket in order to wait for someone to come open.
Blackmon and that shorts the 3rd kid would beat the breaks off of Jackson and Harris, especially with the combination of play action
Geno Smith was not the consensus #1 pick last year. He was no where close. And no owner is going to pull what Daniel Snyder did to get RG3... That's a rare occurrence so can't depend on that happening especially when there's not a QB graded as high as RG3 was in this draft.
That doesn't say Geno was the consensus #1 pick in last year's draft. Just shows he was ranked as the best quarterback.
Blackmon can't pass a drug test so he probably wouldn't have to. But when he's on the field _ Jacksonville has a better receiving core than we do. Despite their quarterback play they were ranked in the top 10 in YAC. We were ranked #24. So you're probably right. Jacksonville's receiving core is better set up to help a young drop back quarterback... Texans need a guy who can take off with it...
Why? Because Russ Lande said so? Just a reminder that last year prior to the Combine that the Chiefs would take either Nassib or Barkley #1 overall. No one knows crap yet. They're just trying to generate page clicks. If I was a betting man, I'd say it's Teddy or Clowney.
Bingo, The prospects that you hear about the least (especially the one that have been at the top of the charts the longest) are the ones teams are looking at the most
On this team with a receiving core that can't get YAC and can't find the end zone _ it wouldn't matter. Foster is the offensive weapon on this team... When he's healthy.
Kansas City traded for a Alex Smith before the draft so it was obvious they wasn't going to draft a quarterback with their 1st pick. NFL teams don't draft according to scout .com guys big boards. Those things are strictly for our entertainment.
still waiting on a valid argument for manziel that doesnt include the words, "magic" "exciting" and "haters."
He lead the nation in opponent adjusted QBR. Something that Luck, Kaepernick, and Russell did when they were in college. The impressive thing is he did it while playing in the SEC and he has accounted for more offensive production and TDs facing more elite competition than what the other quarterbacks being mentioned as a high draft pick produced in their lackluster conference. He's proved he can play under pressure in big time games on more than one occasion... Something that no other quarterback being mentioned as a high draft pick has done.
Other people that excelled at this stat. In 2012, when Manziel led it, Geno Smith was #3. In 2011, when Luck led it, Weeden was #5, Barkley was #6, Case Keenum was #7. In 2009, when CK did it, Keenum was #2. In 2008, the top 3 were Sam Bradford, Colt McCoy, and Tim Tebow. In 2007, it was Tim Tebow 2006 - Pat White 2005 - Pat White, followed by Vince Young and Brady Quinn
